The Larsa fight was embarrassingly pathetic. I'm not used to her Maniac patterns any more, so I just bomb-spammed my way through it with the two lives I had left over. I didn't even get any bonus points at the end of the stage either. Lol.

I made it to Larsa with 3 spare lives, and I still lost. And to make matters worse, I lost my last life to the easiest pattern of her final phase when she had zero pixels of health left. So embarrassing.

Finally the BL Maniac high score surpasses the 1.5 Maniac one!

And yeah, I know that feeling of reaching Larsa with enough lives to win only to choke many times in God mode. It messes with your head (or mine at least) but you know a high score is a high score.

I need learn how deal with bosses, indeed I wasted I my bombs(each single bomb) in boss fights.

Very nice. Where are you using your bombs? I always use one on the stage 2 boss (first phase), two on the stage 3 boss (first phase and third phase), and at least one on the stage 4 boss (second phase). All of them are worth a lot if you can somehow dodge everything, but some of those patterns are really hard.

In my last run was:
1st: 0 bombs.
2nd: 1 bomb in first phase and 2 bombs in second phase. Total 3 bombs.
3rd: 1 bomb in first phase and 1 bomb in third phase. Total: 2 bombs.
4th: 1 bomb in second phase (and lose a live). Total: 1 bomb.
5th: Reached boss with 5 lives and 4 bombs. Used 4 bombs in first phase. Lose a live in second phase and after this used 1 bomb. Used 2 bombs in third phase, lose one live, after this used 3 bombs and did a suicide. Total 10 bombs

Often I lose 1 live in 1st boss. The patterns come down very fast in this game, for luck bosses die fast.

I think I'm going to keep playing until I can make it to Larsa without a death. I know I can do it, but I keep dying two or three times to stupid stuff.

I think I'd have to start milking the first boss (I'm going to start doing this now), the second boss (not sure if I'll bother, it's easy to screw up), and have a borderline perfect run that ends with at least Lx2/Bx3 to have a chance.

So probably not.

Don't worry, after read your post edit increasing your goal to 700+ million with a clear, I was under impression which you I will seek me where I go, then I gave up of play still in Sunday since I need avoid anything which can make me get obsessed.

Ah. Yeah, I originally put 600m with a clear as my goal, but I meant to write 700, so I edited it after I checked the thread again a few hours later. I like to keep marginally increasing my targets, even if I lose interest before reaching them.

Hope you keep playing though! It's more fun when you have someone to compete with.

I might start after I get a 4b Palm God mode ALL. Not sure as I'd also like to get a 5b Reco score too.

And yeah, sucks if third_strike is really retiring. I just wish more people played this seriously in general. Seems all the guys from the first 20 pages or so are long gone and the newer players only bother trying to 1cc 1.5/BL Original as if it's some sort of accomplishment. I actually know BAZOOKA YOSSY, the dude on the leaderboards with the 880m score. He actually seems to spend most of his time playing SSF4 but yet he has top 20 scores in almost every mode and a Spiritual Larsa clear. I actually think the only thing separating him from guys in here is his dedication towards the game. Outside of losing interest I think we could see much higher western records for most of the modes but I guess that's easier said than done.

I still haven't made it to stage 5. Screwed up lots in stage 3 and 4, losing a bunch of points. Stupid, stupid death on 4th boss. Personal best scores for first two stages though (353m after stage 1, and 1093m after stage 2).

No missed up to the start of stage 5, where I accidentally destroyed a lantern before I was close enough to get the bullet cancel. That was pretty annoying. I made it to Larsa's third phase before my second death, and then my third death was a suicide for the bonus points. I did make a few scoring mistakes here and there, and I think I could push 900m if I had perfect run with my current strategies (with 2 or 3 deaths on Larsa), but I'm pretty happy with this for now.

Nah, I'm sure you'll get used to it fairly quickly. God mode is a lot harder, so once you adjust to the differences I'm sure you'll be getting high scores in no time.

edit: Improved a bit. Almost made it to Larsa this time, but I died in stupid ways just before at crucial scoring points. Could have had over 2.8b if it weren't for those. I still haven't properly memorized this stage yet. (Then again, I haven't properly memorized parts of stage 3 and 4 either.)

Went back to 1.5 Maniac, got a slight improvement over my old score. (just posting this so I can have a clear on the scoreboard, instead of ending at Larsa)

I messed up the stage 2 boss pretty badly, and stage 4 was horrific (died 3 times), so I think with some more practice I'll be able to hit 600m or so.

I hate that stage 2 boss. I have no problem milking the 2nd phase but I always seem to lose a life to its 1st phase first attack.

All things considered this run was not very good. I came into the Larsa fight with only 1 spare life and just about all my deaths before that were in big scoring spots with a few other botches here and there. I know I could break 1 billion if I really wanted to but this mode just isn't giving me the same rush as God mode.
