Question about shmup sales figures

Post by JJXB »

Due to my games development course in college, As part of a research techniques unit, i have to try to track down details about sales figures and stuff. But with DOJ, i am finding nothing in terms of console sales figures. VGChartz has nothing and i am finding no sites that list sales figures. so any ideas on where I would find out DOJ sales figures? it'd have to be Bibliography quotable as well.

Edit: PS2 version just for clarification
It's about "realizing their actuality." And judging by the look on Jane's face, she's realized it a couple of times already.

I asked around and was referred to Geimin.net, which compiles data from the Famitsu and Media Create bestsellers lists. DOJ PS2 appears here at spot #274, with a sales figure of approximately 37,702 copies after 8 months. Japanese new game sales tend to be very frontloaded, especially for smaller releases like this, so this is a fairly conclusive number.

It's also worth noting that Famitsu and Media Create sales numbers are extrapolated from a sample and are only an approximation of actual sales performance. Online sales are not included in the sample (just brick and mortar). It's hard to say how the absence of online sales samples affects the accuracy of the estimate, but given this was in 2003 the margin of error shouldn't be significant.

thanks :) it helps to get even these sales figures. and while the source needs extra explanation in the project as a result, it's good i have these figures.
