I have a PS2 joystick I'd love to use for some Wii games ... also have the DJ Hero controller

I actually just use a PS2 -> Gamecube converter instead, as most games that have Classic Controller support also support the Gamecube controller. It's also nice to not have to run the batteries on a Wii Remote down when you're only using it to transmit your controller inputs.

I use one of these, works fine with my PS2 Saturn pad for all Virtual Console games. Doesn't lag.

Alright thanks, I do have a Gamecube adapter that I haven't even tried yet, I'll give it a shot.

I'm pretty positive it won't work for the DJ Hero controller though *sadface*

Ok, tested the one I have, doesn't work at all.

It's this one from DX:

Tested it with an original Dual Shock PS2 controller and SNES9x emulator for Wii, doesn't work at all. Just to make sure, I plugged in my original Gamecube controller, and it works perfectly.

So I think I'm going to order the proper Wii one that plugs into the Wii Remote. Judging by the reviews the compatibility is very good with different software and controllers.

I have the one in the OP, and it was working fine - I used it to play Monster Hunter Tri with a PS2 pad.

For the record, I have two types of Gamecube adapters on hand - one also has an Xbox lead, and does not work unless I plug a Dualshock/Dualshock 2 in (non-analog or third party controllers would just not work). Another one I have, which is a fairly decently large purple box and doesn't do anything but PS -> Gamecube, works with everything I've thrown at it.

Yeah I tried an original DualShock 2, and the "Analog" light comes on, which seems like it would be good, but there's no response from the controls. I even tried powering the Wii off and back on, but still nothing.

I haven't tried the adapter on my Gamecube yet, but I don't expect any different results.

The purple one you mentioned sounds like the Cube Joybox from Mayflash. That's the one that everyone usually recommends, but I'm hoping the Wii one will work out.

Ok I tried the adapter on my GC and it just plain doesn't work.

Hopefully the Wii one will arrive soon and will work better.

Alright, happy to report that the PS2->Wii adapter works perfectly!

I tested with a Dual Shock 2, and the buttons map exactly like the Classic Controller Pro. There's no home button of course, but you can just use the one on the Wii Remote.
