Those emulators were my plan too. This is good news.

Which emulators did you use?

Did either of you try Play with the yongzh emulators (Nesoid, Gensoid, etc.)? I have that collection backed up intending to load it on the Play.

Thank you both for dropping science on this.

I use Snesoid, Gensoid, and Gameboid. All of them have some input lag. Even FPse feels a bit slow on inputs.

I will try the Tiger emulators to see if things are any more playable.

maxlords: I have uninstalled a bunch of stuff including Madden - my phone was rooted, so I used Titanium Backup to convert the app to a user-installed app, and then I was able to uninstall it from the Manage Applications menu. The previous owner rooted the phone so I didn't have to do it myself, but apparently it is pretty easy to do.

edit: I don't know man... I installed the newest Tiger emulators, the input still feels quite laggy. Have you tried playing any game that needs small tap movements or motion that stops on a dime? In SNES Wild Guns, I can't stop my reticle without overshooting my target, in GBA Gradius Galaxies I can't get through the asteroid corridors in stage 1 without crashing, and yes I own and have played these both on original hardware.

Not that this will help you much but 19xx on a Thunderbolt using the onscreen virtual buttons had next to no lag - if any at all.

Nope....Mega Man is about the most precise thing I've played. I'll DL those two titles and try em.

As for rooting....I'll check into that. There is a bunch of CRAP I want to get off there that it won't let me get rid of!
<@scootnet> if you were a real gamer, you could jerk it to Super Metroid box art

Just found out about Jet Car Stunts, great game. It's a mix of racing and platforming, almost like Mirror's Edge with a car. There's a demo you can try out.

Also, the soccer manager simulator from Kairosoft was translated to english, just search for Pocket League Story. There's no demo yet though.

Yay I finally upgraded my phone!

Went from an HTC Magic (one of the first Android phone evar) to an HTC Evo 3D - what a difference!

So far Icarus-X and R-TYPE are my favs, I'll have to check out the rest from this thread. One big downside is that the Wii Controller app doesn't work with stock HTC ROMs for some reason. I've rooted but I haven't installed a custom ROM yet, but really want to rock some emulators and a classic controller pro or TvC stick.

Also Dead on Arrival is a really fun twin-stick style arena shooter:

Kairosoft has a whole bunch of games now, including a space simcity. Worth giving them a try. Also, Drag Racing: Bike Edition will be released soon.

Since my last post I downloaded these:

Lair Defense: Tower Defense with dragons
WSOP Hold'em Legend: Texas Hold'em poker
Live Hold'em Pro: Online Texas Hold'em poker
Easy Video Poker

I personally don't care about playing roms on my phone. Too annoying to play like that.

some early shots of my new game, due on XBLIG and iPhone this spring (April I hope). I had an Android programmer also but I think he might be ditching the project (any interested coders in here?)

Working hard to redefine platforming controls on a touchscreen with this game, I hate virtual D-pads. Like I said, it's still early but I am very happy with how it is coming along, stay tuned :)
