Super Famicom- Game Genie...won't work!- UPDATE

Post by evil_ash_xero »

I filed down the tabs on the Game Genie, but my copy of Hagane won't boot up. My other game does(the Japanese version of Pocky and Rocky).

UPDATE:

This GG thing is a piece of garbage. It runs Contra Spirits, and the J version of Pocky and Rocky...but it won't play Hagane at all(black screen), and DoReMi Fantasy sticks on the title screen.

What the hell is thing good for?

Can anyone here CONFIRM that they use this method, and both of these games work? Maybe it's this particular GG.
Also, can anyone here confirm that they have filed the tabs down on a U.S. Super NES, and have played either of these games, and they work? I wouldn't want to do something like that to my machine, and have the same problem.

Far as I know, not one SFC game is region protected, the Mega Drive had some games that required codes, but not SFC games. My copy of Gokujou Parodius won't boot up either, though I know it works as a friend of mine streamed himself playing it via his webcam.

Try cleaning the contacts with a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol. That should clean it up nicely and the game should play. If that fails, try using a soft emory board or some fine grit sand paper and clean the contacts gently that way to remove any corrosion. Let us know if this helps.

You know, in my search, I found another thread on a board where some guy was having the exact same problem, with the exact same game.

Curious.

I have a U.S. copy too....but still, this is annoying.

There could possibly be some compatibility issue with the Game Genie. Why don't you just bust out the tabs inside the cartridge slot itself and put the game directly into the console?

I think i'll leave it be. I have the U.S. one, and I don't want to mess with my SNES.
