Im not really a fan of Touhou clones, just having touhou is enough for me.

(although im not a dev but heres my 2 cents) I think the young dev should be commended for making a shmup, sadly he still needs to develop his own talent in game making and shmup / game design before he can produce a marketable game.

I dont wanna put the guy off or anything I really hope he continues making games and improving his craft. Atm Ild recommend he make freeware games and ask for donations. That way he will get play testers who will tell him what works and what doesnt, plus are willing to buy games further down the road. Its worked for the devs behind VVVVVV, Super Meatboy and Noitu Love 2

Note to dev it isnt so much about the graphics, hell ild play a game with just hitboxes on a black background if it ran smooth, controlled well and had good (ie fast) pacing with a great tune.

I really don't understand why people make games like this, when you know it's gonna be going up against other doujins like crimson clover/blue wish rez. etc.

Nah you did not, it's just that comparing Gustav's games to Thera seems like comparing the Taj Mahal to some dogshit that was accidentally trodden into the carpet ...or something.
This whole Thera thing looks like the remake of "The Prisoner"- it's been made by someone who's been really impressed but without understanding or grasping the essence of the thing they're trying to imitate.
Maybe someone should make a flash browser version of Dodonpachi that's mouse-controlled and doesn't have chaining

I remember CrossEagle, yeah, the same guy who does Revolver360, was once working on a mouse-controlled Ketsui-meets-DDP clone minus the chaining. Pity he ripped all the sprites, I hope that one day he brings back that thing.
