Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
These are pretty cheap ATM, I'm tempted to pick one up.
Anybody had any experiences?
I found hacked PSP emulation to be a mostly unsatisfactory experience.

Never played one, but I have floated down the river on one.

Re: Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
I've bought a Caanoo last month. As soon as it arrives and I manage to stop cursing at the sluggish Brazilian postal service, I'll tell you about it.
Re: Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
i'd give it a miss - i bought one at launch and ,whilst its nice to run Mame on and have it not totally suck, it was a fairly painful experience and the community isn't as vibrant as with the other GP machines.
A shame really.

Re: Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
Had some promise, but failed to generate much excitement around here. Mostly due to it having an analog nub instead of a traditional D-pad.
GPH has yet to release anything decent in my opinion. Their controls are always wonky, build quality lacking, and often some minor issues with the screens.
You'd think they'd try to cater to a more niche audience, but here they are with handhelds that have all the problems of something from sony and nintendo put together, yet no software for them.
GP32 had decent controls, and alright screen (at the time), but was underpowered.
GP2X Had good power, screen was better, but the controls were horrid.
GP2X Wiz was powerful, controls were alright, but the screen had a big honking diagonal tear in the middle during flashy gameplay which happens I don't know... ALL THE TIME in 90s games.
Now we have the Caanoo, no more diagonal lines, but the screen is partially hidden behind the bezel in a silly way, and it has an analog nub (which works great for arcade games right?).
I can only conclude that the few things they do get right, are only by mistake or chance. They have no idea what they're doing, or who they're selling to.

Get a Dingoo instead. £35 can't go wrong, plays everything.
Re: Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
where do you find this for £35 please?dan76 wrote:Get a Dingoo instead. £35 can't go wrong, plays everything.
I've found it around 80€.
how do mame games work on this?
edit:just watched a review,it doesn't look that great,emu are slow?
Re: Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
NeoGeo worked pretty well on the A320... at least Pulstar and Blazing Star did... It has been a long while since I tried the Dingoo so I don't remember much.
Aguraki, send me a PM. I may sell my A320.

I'd also root for the Dingoo. It's pretty smallish (about the size of a Gameboy micro), and with the preinstalled Dingoo OS (or what's it called...) it's got pretty got Gameboy Advance emulation.
if you want to emulate other stuff, like SNES, MegaDrive or Arcadegames, you can run linux on it, (dingux).

Re: Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
When I got mine there was a few of them on ebay for around that price. The emulation is good for snes, GBA and megadrive. With mame you need dingux (?) installed, which mine had already and it runs mame pretty good - though I only really play early 80's games on it, once you get into the 90's it's hit and miss - Progear is pretty choppy.Aguraki wrote:where do you find this for £35 please?dan76 wrote:Get a Dingoo instead. £35 can't go wrong, plays everything.

Re: Anybody Played With A Caanoo?
So, I got my Caanoo at last, and... yeah, it has its share of design flaws. And it's quite a big share. The analog stick kinda sucks, the buttons are too small, the triggers are too small and rigid, the speakers are on the back of the unit, it lacks built-in wifi... so, yes, count me as a bit disappointed. It's not terrible, but I expected something a bit better.
