It's too bad that it seems like nobody is actually playing the game though. I feel like a 600-700m clear would be an average score for a player who knows what they're doing, but there aren't many on the leaderboards. It's a shame, because the game is superb.

I have a feeling that fewer players are getting into this game because the scoring mechanic is somewhat unintuitive. Maybe it's just me, but it just doesn't have that feeling of immediacy and accessibility that a game like Mushi Futari does, where you can sit down with it and immediately feel like you know (mostly) what you're doing.

Easily the hardest clear I have ever done. Features full chains of 2-1 to 2-3, almost full chain of 2-4 and no deaths until Taisabachi. I think I might be the first person in the west to clear the game with Power Style, so I'd like to know if anyone knows better.

Does anyone have any tips for handling 30Hz sprite flicker?

I have a video dumped from MAME.

If I encode it at 60fps, flicker is (kind of) preserved but movement and scrolling become really choppy.....see here for an example (start at 1:58).
If I simply drop every other frame and encode at 30fps, flickering sprites will cycle on/off every 2 seconds (video is actually 59.78fps so cycle time eventually 'spills over').
Blending frames makes it atrociously blurry but flickering sprites will be "half visible" all the time. Better than nothing.

Video is not interlaced.

Is there a preferred method, or does someone know a secret?

I blend the frames. It's not ideal, but the blurriness bothers me less than sprites disappearing. It also makes fast bullets look less jumpy.
