GBA Sigma Star Saga out today at Gamestop 8/17/05...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

For the lucky shmuppers who pre-ordered their copy of the U.S. version of Namco's Sigma Star Saga, it is now available for purchase at your local Gamestop stores, Electronic Boutique, etc.

I really don't want to play an easy shmup right now, so I'm not going to buy this one just yet. And if there is item collecting in the non-shmup segments, forget about it. I already spend a 1/4 of my time cleaning up after my kids. I don't want to be wandering around trying to find so and so or such and such.

it's not easy, actually. it's impossible. not because it's difficult, because it's poorly designed.

my only quirk is there's no way to elude random battles. escape option? none. Wild Arms-style on-field evasion? nada. however, even though i deeply sigh and hang my head when i see myself get beamed up, that frustration quickly goes away when the battle begins, since it's definitely the most fun i've had in a random battle, EVER. too bad it's not challenging.. ah well.

My main gripe with Sigma Star Saga (which is more prevalent in the scripted shooting sequences but also crops up in some of the random ones) is that there are a lot of enemies who simply try to ram you. I don't think that's particularly fair. It feels like the designers thought cheap ramming kills were okay since the player has a life bar, but dying repeatedly from them only serves to piss me off. I gave up on the game pretty quickly.

What else are they gonna do? Bullets are clearly in short supply in this universe! I feel sorry for the enemies, really. They're probably wondering just where you got all of your bullets.
