Amiga SideWinder and Hybris

Post by vcoleiro1 »

Did anyone play SideWinder and Hybris on the Amiga. These were my favourite games at the time. The game play, graphics and music were just awesome. I used to play these forever and never got board of them.

Never played sidewinder , but Hybris certainly was one of the best shmups on the Amiga.
Pretty cool leveling up and just playing away like a dream.

For the time the gfx were cool too and the music most memorable.

It;s been ar too long since I played this and Battle Squadron... :(

Do the loops get harder in Hybris?

Oh jeez, I used to LOVE SideWinder :) The sheer scenery destruction was something I hadn't seen yet at that point. It really is easy though past the first stage.

Battle Squadron holds up a little better I think. Hybris... I kept just going forever on that one, and the game didn't seem to do anything differently. Maybe I was playing it wrong. (anyone?)

Hybris has an amazing soundtrack btw.

hybris has such an amazing soundtrack, one of the alltime greatest.

otherwise I think most of these games have aged terribly.
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..

What do you have to do to advance worlds in Hybris?

^beat the boss.

You might have hybris mixed up with Battle Squadron which is that weird one where you have to go down a hole to advance levels.

Nah, I've beaten Battle Squadron before. But with Hybris, I swear I was on the same level for upwards of 10 minutes. Or maybe all the levels are really similar...?

Listen to the first stage music for Hybris... then listen to the game won/game lost sound of Leland Corporation's Ataxx.

Similar basslines, it seems, even though not exact. Someone at Leland might have played Hybris?
