Well this is it, my summer is officially over. Kinda wished I hadn't spent half of it taking online classes, but I did brew some beer, hiked some mountains and answered to no one for two and a half months.

If I could afford it, i'd be down. I buy the cheapest shit I can. Just got back from the store with a handle of McCormick Whiskey (my old stand by, but my main man is Old Crow). 'Tis only 11.99 for an entire frickin' handle of whiskey. That is some cheap drinkin.

Man, I can't even stomach cheap anymore. I bought a mini-keg ($18) of Hofbrau's Oktoberfest hoping for a good, light table beer (I generally enjoy the light german beers), and seriously, complete crap. Overwhelmed by DMS (creamed corn taste/smell) that I could still taste an hour after drinking it (even after drinking a lot of water.) I'll probably dump it. There should be some way to return beer if it is either (a) skunked or (b) brewed so badly as to be a DMS bomb.

What I wonder is if for a lot of cheap beer drinkers if this would somehow be acceptable?

Popped over to the Portsmouth Brewery the other day for lunch and to get some of the one off Dogfish/Portsmouth collaboration beer, Fruit Gruit. It was good, and it wasn't too sweet despite all of the fruit in it. I also had a pour from a firkin of Smuttynose Big A IPA dry hopped with Calypso and it was pretty nasty. It had this really sour, pungent smell and an acrid flavor. Though it improved ever so slightly, the aftertaste mellowed into a nice hop flavor after a bit, I had a real hard time finishing it. It was almost as bad as the Bohemian pilsner I had at a beer fest last year that tasted how urinal cakes smell. It was a shame cause Big A is a fucking righteous IPA on its own.

I also grabbed a bottle of Sierra Nevada/Dogfish Life and Limb and it was really good. I made sure to grab and extra one to lay down.

What I wonder is if for a lot of cheap beer drinkers if this would somehow be acceptable?

I don't think regular beer drinkers really care about the taste or what bad/infected/skunked beer tastes like. Lord knows why anyone accepts beer packaged in clear or green bottles.

I actually prefer it to most of the premium brands of lager.
My favourite is Bavaria,which is on the cheaper side of the spectrum too.

I just mix cheap shit with coke and everything takes fine. Also, the more cheap shit you drink the better it tastes. Over time you don't taste anything. It's quite grand. I do the same thing with food so I can afford bullshit hobbies.
