Looking for info on original Recca release

Like the topic says, I'm curious to know if any concrete information has ever surfaced about the number of legitimate Recca carts released. Additionally, I'd love to know if all of them were released as boxed or if the ones reported to have been handed out at the Summer Carnival itself were loose. I've read that there was a "re-release" (for lack of a better word) of them for sale after the competition and assume that is where most of them came from.

Anybody have a link or any solid information about this? I keep running across the same basic things on the web.

Thanks for the link! Unfortunately, there wasn't much new info there like you mentioned. I still need to spend some time digging through the links though so I still have some hope that something will turn up.
