Another couple of shmups for the DS!?

Post by Pedro Lambrini »

So, there's another 2 shooters (supposedly) coming to the DS! Here's a small article from the Nintendo Now site:

"The Nintendo DS appears to be a popular handheld for on-rails shooters. Recently, we have received Nanostray from Majesco and Neopong Software is currently working hard on World Reborn: Unification. But it doesn't stop just there! Dutch developer, Two Tribes, has shed some light on their latest project, an on-rails shooter titled, ReWind.

According to the developer, ReWind will offer gorgeous 3D graphics, an immersive storyline and full use of the handheld's unique capabilities, such as the built-in microphone. The game will be very accessible to your average gamer, but will offer enough challenges to keep hardcore players satisfied. One of these challenges is making gamers strive for high scores.

Currently no release date has been set but Nintendo Now will keep you posted as more comes along."

Maybe the DS will be the system of choice for shmups even thought the PSP has the widescreen...stranger things have happened!

Two Tribes is making one now? They made Toki Tori for GBC. That is one rocking puzzle game.

Too bad the article doesn't really say if Two Tribes' DS game is an actual shmup or a Star Fox like game.

They need a dodonpachi style game on the DS. You know, bottom screen avoids top screen. Or something of that caliber.

That's a wee bit cynical, isn't it? :)

Probably, but when companies use things that should be givens as selling points, their products are usually stank.

It may even be a "house of the dead" type of rail shooter.
Watching the few media pics (which look like concept art stuff) on the Two Tribes home page http://www.twotribes.nl/default.asp?pag ... nd=2894556
I can't see ANY evidence of the game being a shmup-like shooter.

Funny how Pedro Lambrini's quote from the Nintendo Now magazine refers to
Nanostray as a Rail shooter...
Barroom hero!
Bathroom hero!

Yeah, you're right - the art work doesn't really point to anything gameplay-wise. Still, even if it turned out to be a HOTD affair that could be quite cool, too! (If a little OT!). Although the more i think about the more I think it probably will be a Star Wing kind of thing seeing that everybody loves 3d these days...

you know what would be the best thing in the world? totally off topic though.

an elite style game for the ds :)

all the menu screen stuff could be selected with the touch screen as well as any in spacestation navigation. the ship flight could be conventionally controlled with the dpad etc.

it would rule

sorry don't know where that came from
