Hori's line of useless products
Hori updated their website today with a countdown timer.
I think it's a bit silly for a game peripheral manufacturer to be doing this, but I'll bite... what could this possibly be?
EDIT: The countdown is over in Asia and some of Europe (it seems to use local time). The actual product link: http://www.hori.jp/products/ps3/control ... ipad3_pro/
EDIT: Expanded to accomodate even more useless products.

Whatever it is, it can't possibly be sexier than the VLX.StarCreator wrote:Hori updated their website today with a countdown timer.

It's a Dead or Alive 5 stick.

Re: Hori's mystery product
I really have no idea, they've already exhausted the arcade stick and screen protector markets.
The best possible scenario is a Pop'n Music controller announcement for 360. But the rhythm genre is dead, and Konami have traditionally always made their own (albeit, terrible) ASCs, so I don't have my hopes up.

Re: Hori's mystery product
I can't see them hyping anything other than an arcade stick. They've really grown. They have a sponsored US fighting game team, now.

Re: Hori's mystery product (HORIPAD 3 PRO)

So... a wired PS3 controller with a rotating d-pad! And it comes with turbo with a toggle button on the bottom! And has three color options!
... why did this need a countdown again?

Re: Hori's mystery product (HORIPAD 3 PRO)
No vibration, no sixaxis, not wireless, and doesn't work in some games.
And Hori used 4-5 years to make it.

That's a good thing.

I hope the D-pad has more texture to grip the thumb than it looks like in those pictures.

What's the analog slider used for?
Re: Hori's mystery product (HORIPAD 3 PRO)
Well, that's disappointing...
Re: Hori's mystery product (HORIPAD 3 PRO)
Thank god. I was waiting to play games with a 45 degree d-pad for years.

Good idea to have a 6 button SF setup. Oh wait....
Re: Hori's mystery product (HORIPAD 3 PRO)
Amiami has preorders up for late July. Too bad it's wireless, it's most likely better than the non-existent diagonal PS3 controller.
Re: Hori's mystery product (HORIPAD 3 PRO)
Wait, the countdown was for a PS3 pad...?! I'll go post something in a specific thread of ours.

Re: Hori's line of useless products
Bumping this thread since it didn't seem worth making a new thread over...
PSP AC adapters
Comes in a pocket-sized (0.6amp) version for 980 yen and a slightly larger "smart type" (1amp) version for 1,680 yen. Would be pretty neat if I hadn't switched to USB charging years ago...
Hori HDMI cable
1,380 yen for 1.5 meters, 1,980 yen for 2 meters. Doesn't seem to say anything about which HDMI spec these conform to (beyond being high speed and 3D supported) or what the gauge of the cable is. Does Japan not have an equivalent to Monoprice where you can get cables of similar quality for less than $2 a piece? Hori's got the Monster cable vibe down pat...
You're slipping, Hori...

Re: Hori's line of useless products
No - any kind of cable here is gonna run you a minimum of $12 (most likely $15). I grabbed a bunch of those Amazon.com $2 HDMI cables a while back and keep stock for myself and my friends.StarCreator wrote:Does Japan not have an equivalent to Monoprice where you can get cables of similar quality for less than $2 a piece?
Re: Hori's line of useless products
Am I the only person who has problems with ultra cheap HDMI cables?
I got snow and dropouts with one between my PS3 and Samsung TV.
And I got no audio with another between an Xbox and Sony TV.
In both cases I could drop the resolution to 1080i and the problems would go away. I had to swap them both with $20 cables.

Re: Hori's line of useless products
I had a similar experience with my PS3, despite the cable working perfectly for anything else I tried including a 360. Swapped one cheap cable for another cheap cable and the PS3 played along.antron wrote:Am I the only person who has problems with ultra cheap HDMI cables?

I'm probably going to start looking for cable suppliers that don't attach giant ferrite blocks to each end like Monoprice does - so far, cmple.com is looking like a good deal (I already ordered two 25' 26AWG 1.4+ethernet cables from them for an in-wall run I did recently). The ferrite blocks in my experience cause more problems than they solve when used on cable carrying a digital signal.
Now I'm wondering if I should open a side business of reselling cheap HDMI cables internationally...

Re: Hori's line of useless products
Mine actually arrived yesterday morning, but I haven't had time to crack it out of its case. On a quick glance, it seems to be the US equivalent to the HORIPAD 3 PRO - it carries the same "PRO." branding and the d-pad options seem to be pretty much the same. Likewise, the Fighting Commander 3 PRO doesn't seem to be available in Japan...ArmoredCore wrote:anyone try the new fighting commander from hori? is it responsive? it has alot of features on it for the d-pad
Of course, I was just starting to look into getting a HORIPAD 3 PRO since it fits a niche I'm trying to fill in my collection (a good wired controller with large buttons that doesn't deviate from the standard PlayStation layout) but it looks like the importers are all sold out...

The latest product announcement: looks like a 4 meter long PSP D-Terminal cable.
Last time I tried hooking up a PSP to a TV, the result left a lot to be desired...

New product for Dragon Quest's 25th anniversary. It's...

It's green?
