RSG publish DDP Resurrection in Europe
Re: RSG Confirmed to publish Dodonpachi Resurrection in Europe.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'd imagine the chances of DOJ and Ketsui appearing on retail shelves outside Japan are somewhere around the zero mark.

DOJ will never be released. They pulled all copies of that for the 360 when they found out the code for BLEX was reverse engineered PS2 code.bcass wrote:I wouldn't worry about it too much. To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

If emulation is a question, it would be stupid to even discuss prices and hardware, so please allow me to stick to my original statement.
I guess the best solution would be to get my X360 modded and not pay for anything, including RSG's awesome release?
Or in other words: If you're gonna promote piracy, take the discussion elsewhere, there are enough threads about that.
and yeah, I know those two games would NEVER be released in Europe
At least not DOJ (Ketsui could still be a possibility as a downloadable)

I think it's a damn shame you can't play the region-locked stuff. You could also try to get an Asia 360 console rather than a Japanese 360. It's about $50 lessSumez wrote:If emulation is a question, it would be stupid to even discuss prices and hardware, so please allow me to stick to my original statement.

Please make your products region free so Americans can get their hands on DDPDFK without having to fork over $400.

Yeah I'm hoping for this... It's the age of North Americans importing from PAL as heralded by Xenoblade ChroniclesRNGmaster wrote:Please make your products region free so Americans can get their hands on DDPDFK without having to fork over $400.

Either that or a Games on Demand release a la Deathsmiles IIx.
I figure a physical domestic release is unlikely...

Re: RSG Confirmed to publish Dodonpachi Resurrection in Europe.
Speaking of uncommon publishing pratices ive got a couple of questions that im hoping someone in the know can answer for me. How strict is MS and other hardware manufacturers rules on regional distribution. Is there anything stopping publishers from selling their games to select countries in other territories? I remember in the 16bit era that Temco published the NA version of Warsong in the UK (IIRC the boxart was the same as the NA version and even had the Genesis logo instead of MD, although I dunno how they got past differences in hardware ). Was this sort of practice common in the past is there anyone doing similar today?
All what ive said is all highly unlikely to happen as ild bet money on DFK coming to the NA at some point, atleast if you guys do get any answers from CAVE it'll put your minds at ease (although dont expect any answers from them, as keeping gamers in the dark over ports and localisations is standard practice to drive up demand and sales, A fine example would be Last Story. Although Cave have been known to respond to fans requests if enough ppl ask them (PAL DFK, DOJ 360 patch, also Esp Galuda 2 with became region free due to the online petition this forum and its french sister forum ran)
Im moving (further) into conjecture here. If RSG made DFK dual region it might garner some sales and publicity from all the NA gamers who are of the same kreed as You Tubes K(night)wing who love Japanese games and are currently pissed over NOA publishing Last Story etc. Many of them are looking into importing from the UK and RSG should be able to jump on the bandwagon of this.
I feel for you guys, as should any other PAL member who remembers 18 months back when NA Deathsmiles and the region locking was making all us PAL guys feel very left out. TBH I think Cave will have their own plans for DFK in NA, probably on GOD. But as Zeron has just said that I would try to get as many of you NA guys as possible and go pester CAVE and find out what their plans are for NA DFK (maybe you might get them to tell us whats happening with PAL Deathsmiles 2 while your at it.) In the unlikely event that CAVE say they dont have plans for DFK then maybe you might be able to persuade CAVE into allowing RSG to make their version region free / dual region.RNGmaster wrote:Please make your products region free so Americans can get their hands on DDPDFK without having to fork over $400.

Whether a game is region-f***ed or not is not up to microdick, but the game publishers themselves. Look at how the PC-Engine CD and Super CD systems were run, as well as the PS3, PSP, NDS, and Neo-Geo Pocket.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Speaking of uncommon publishing pratices ive got a couple of questions that im hoping someone in the know can answer for me. Re: RSG Confirmed to publish Dodonpachi Resurrection in Europe.
I spent some of Wednesday and a bit of Thursday on DDP Resurrection at Gamescom. How did you guys do? Did you knock my 'Strong' mode score off of the top-spot? It wasn't that good, but I got some way into the final boss of the first loop on a credit. I know it was saving scores overnight.Shin wrote: we saw 360 mode, Arrange A.

Both Cave and RSG, sorry, but thanks for the link.
Re: RSG Confirmed to publish Dodonpachi Resurrection in Europe.
I don't think there is a "best way" to contact CAVE unless you want to discuss business inquiries with regards to game-licensing and distribution (i.e., "if you don't have a profitable business plan, then don't bother").

Yes - the publisher might not have approval from the platform holder (MS, Sony, Nintendo) to publish in a particular region.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Speaking of uncommon publishing pratices ive got a couple of questions that im hoping someone in the know can answer for me. A game can be made region-free - provided of course the platform holder allows it - but a PAL publisher may be prohibited from promoting its sale in non-PAL territories.

Very strict by the letter. However, publishers rarely actually cross that line. Instead their supply distribution is typically controlled to a supplier - at which point, by and large, taxation and transport costs prevents re-distribution across territories from being viable.
Thus, unless a license holder pursues retailers there's little to stop import/export. Ironically, it's Sony with it's region free hardware that has traditionally pursued retailers on such a basis.
The real leveler of playing-fields, of course, is digital distribution... With region lockouts in place only for quality control and/or technicalities over the interaction of this with physical distribution rights.
