Try VirtuaNES. I find it runs faster than either of those. If all else fails, you can always fall back to NESticle...Zetzumarshen wrote:This game is good. I can't have enough of it.
Although one gripe is neither FCUEX or Nestopia can't twitch move. Sometimes when I pressed a key my avatar didn't move.

I am using Nestopia to play. Game works fine.
Delilah bonuses - destroy both eyes at the same time, just like what you do on destroying enemies at a time on Raiden Fighters.
Lazarus bonus - Destroy the head with both parts hit before it combines into a single head.

How many opportunities are there to get Delilah bonus? I've only been able to get it in one point.
Also, could one of you guys posting 1.5mil scores just give me an idea of what your score coming out of the first boss is?

Not sure where you're finding "random". Could you explain this a bit?Tigershark wrote:Not my type of game as too fast and a bit too random because of its speed.

Having played this a bit now (for the team) it seems clear that if you want to score highly you have to power up quickly, ramp the speed up to the maximum and strafe constantly from one side of the screen to the other in order to destroy as much as possible and unlock all the bonuses (save for the "opening" enemies where you get more points if you destroy them when they are open). Ok so it might not be quite as simple as that but to me the nature of the game is to be as quick as you can while the scenery passes you by which produces random scores as much down to luck than judgment.Despatche wrote:Not sure where you're finding "random". Re: STGT '11 Week 5 (Final) - Blade Buster discussion!
I wouldn't really call it random if plasmo can consistently get 1.5+ Mil scores. It isn't random just brutally fast and heavy on memorization to maximize scores.
Re: STGT '11 Week 5 (Final) - Blade Buster discussion!
I'm having much more luck on speed2 and scoring fairly consistently, making linear improvement. I suggest you consider slowing down and paying more attention to the game, rather than flailing all over the place.Tigershark wrote:Having played this a bit now (for the team) it seems clear that if you want to score highly you have to power up quickly, ramp the speed up to the maximum and strafe constantly from one side of the screen to the other in order to destroy as much as possible and unlock all the bonuses (save for the "opening" enemies where you get more points if you destroy them when they are open). Yes I tried that but score better on faster speeds - especially when it comes to picking up the rubies (if that's what they are). Currently experimenting with varying the speed during the game.Deca wrote:

But basically I don't like it. On a positive note however, I do like the fact that the game lasts a maximum of 5 minutes.

How do you get the round ground enemies to appear on those last two rails before the final boss? Or any of the ones leading up to it, for that matter. I've had one appear occasionally before the pair, it'd be nice to have two of them pop out at the end there for the bonus.

Caravan shmups FTL. I pretty much haven't played it since my submitted score.

It doesn't look too good for my team right now, but the choice of games was by far the best one up to now. I could almost enjoy every single week (Goku Paro wasn't that much of a pleasure...).
Blade Buster is an absolutely awesome game. It reminded me of how I really need to play more Caravan games.

what about not destroying them earlier in the stage? (the rails move offscreen)Deca wrote:How do you get the round ground enemies to appear on those last two rails before the final boss? Re: STGT '11 Week 5 (Final) - Blade Buster discussion!
Here are my thoughts for the game, both in my language and of course, English:

Combine Recca with Super Star Soldier and you get the equation for having the best doujin shmup. Blade Buster is one of the doujin games that are created by a small company named HLC or 'High Level Challenge'. What the Soldier series of games thought me is that this one requires a lot of quick-killing of stuff everywhere, the bonuses in which you destroy the parts of the head before they combine and the eyes at the same time (they are known as Lazarus and Delilah bonuses from Soldier Force respectively). This is one thing that most Japanese players enjoy, until these games came in to our world. Among the other playing weeks, this is one of my favorites besides being the final week!

Re: STGT '11 Week 5 (Final) - Blade Buster discussion!
I didn't have any internet at my new place, even now I'm on stolen wi-fi, and I wasn't able to submit a score for Blade Buster which pisses me off to no end. I'm pretty sure I was the reason this game even got picked because I talked to nimitz about it for a bit. I'm just glad a ton of people got to see how great it was, but still kicking myself about the timing. Moving sucks.

This must be some pretty slick coding to make this game happen on the NES without tons of slowdown. It`s a fun little game and successfully lives up to the Hudson PCE caravan games I would say.

OH Pls. caravan games are the best modes to be ever played in most competitions. If you are not too familiar with them, try playing Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier, and Soldier Blade's 2-minute or 5-minute modes on the PC Engine. If you don't have one, find a rom and an emulator! Try using savestates to practice finding bonuses and other stuff to focus on. We promise you, yyooouuu'rrrreee goonnna like it!Chaos Phoenixma wrote:Please, no more caravans.
