If he's that close, tell him to get some Egrets installed. Or salvage some of Troc's leftover Egrets. :p
I've already dropped a hint or two about that (although with a slight bias to getting the Initiald D 4 machine in at Casino).

Aliquantic wrote:Have you tried just chaining the stages well and trying to pointblank things to build up the counter with W Power? If you can survive properly (boy it's easy to die stupidly in that game!), you should be able to get half-decent scores, and you can worry about the midboss counter milking later :) (And milking everything else even later, but midbosses are critical obviously) I'm a chaining addict though, so of course I liked Mushi Maniac when I could play it :P

Unrelated but does any of you guys play fighting games? I'm thinking of trying to learn a bit of SSFIV (casually of course) while I'm away along with my Blazblue.
I was trying to score by chaining before but I'm not so much of a fan as you. My score yesterday will have been from accidental chaining though.

I started learning to play fighting games a while ago but I haven't had the time for them. Don't think any of the regulars really play (Illyrian maybe?).

I used to play Darkstalkers: Vampire Saviour a fair bit. In fact they used to have it in Casino, but I find fighters difficult with a stick - to used to the old Saturn pad. I also picked up SSIV but haven't put any time into it. Chi kicked my ass on Street Fighter 3 once...

With Mushi rather than using C I've started slowly tapping A instead. This alone seems to make some difference to scoring -

I thought that was going to be a SECRET SUPRISE or something.

I'll try and make it in Thursday if you get DS installed but otherwise I'm not around this week.

Deathsmiles is in :P

Almost didn't happen - got lucky as the engineer seemed quite busy - CHI worked his magic. It's in the old Red Earth cab, the screen is ok, a bit washed out but at least it doesn't induce an epileptic fit with every explosion. At the moment the balltop is missing from the joystick as it kept coming unscrewed whilst I was playing (there's always something with Casino...). The hi-score tables are pretty much empty. Looking forward to see how anyone can actually play with Casper.

I'll be down thursday.

It would be awesome to see you again m0nks! (To those who haven't met Ben; he's a Casino regular of a couple of years back who moved away, but he'll always have a place in the upper echelons of the Casino Crew!).

m0nks - if it would make your visit easier/cheaper, you and your better half would be welcome to stay at spadgy towers.

I hope all is well deep in the shire!

EDIT:

Wicked news! I'll be in next week for sure. See if I can push my old DS score.

Also, I had an interesting meeting with RSG yesterday, and I'm aloud to talk about some of it with the Casino Crew! Some cool things to discuss.

Brilliant news! I'll be down all evening on Thursday to play it, and will bring a ball-top for the stick in case it hasn't been replaced by then.
And Ben, it'll be good to meet you when you come down to visit the new and improved Casino!

Went down earlier, made less mistakes than before and actually got to Tyrannosatan with Casper. Then I lost all my lives stupidly, failed to clear it and ended with 110mil or something like that. Went out for a cigarette, then sat back down and got my 150mil...
Image
...with the wrong fucking character!

It's just because of the clear bonus, Tyrannosatan is so much easier with Rosa it's not even fun to play (not once did it make me want to punch myself in the face). I think this is the limit for Rosa on my current route but it suggests that if I can just stop making mistakes and no miss Tyrannosatan my Casper score on this route will top out closer to 200mil than 150.

In summary, Tyrannosatan is a proper dickhead.

End of blog.

I will be there Wednesday, I'm excited about this RSG news so you'd better make it spadgy!

@hzt, I had a credit as Casper and found the Forest Stage pretty easy. I don't know what it is about that stage that gives you the fear. I tried to do the Volcano recharge and failed, ended up scoring virtually nothing. I'll give Rosa a try next time I'm in. What route did you use?

Having this in Casino has made me go back and have a look at some Japanese replays. Some of them are amazing. A new high score (no EX) was posted a few weeks ago for Follette - 460mil and it blows my current strategy out of the water - he doesn't do the volcano recharge with a bomb, he lets it run out and recharges at the bottom of the large rock on the green eyeballs - makes over 100mil on that stage alone. The Train and Swamp still seem the most difficult stages to score on. Goes into the Castle at 260mil.

I certainly think trying to emulate a superplay is a bad idea though. I've always found it more useful to look at replays slightly above my own score, picking up adjustments along the way.

Also, I had a go on the balltop with a pair of pliers - should be stuck on there for good now. I'll be in early tomorrow, around 5.

Mostly it's the fact that unlike you I suck at shmups. There's just too much stuff to dodge in the second half.

You don't need to recharge on the Volcano with Casper, just use shot and don't mash it, tap fairly slowly. I've seen someone get 70mil+ by doing this and even I can get 50+. So you can't score as much as with Follet but I'm not sure recharging would actually add to the score because you can get all the way through the rocks anyway.

My Rosa route was the same as I was doing last week, Port (2), Graveyard (3), Forest (1 orz), Volcano (3), Lakeside (3), Swamp (2). Although I might have done the port at 3, I can't remember.
