o.O It doesn't look like anything i could possibly solve due to the error probably being a java error.
Maybe try:
*upgrade java if you haven't done so already
*use a different browser
*upgrade browser

Running it on Chrome seemed to work, not sure why it wasn't working on Firefox though.

Was fun and the sounds and graphics were good, could do with a bit of music though.

Yay :)

I agree that the lack of music is a problem. I can't make my own music. Currently i have 2 ideas to alleviate this issue:
  • more relevant sounds, like environment, orb movement etc.
  • hopes that people will listen to their own music while playing

How odd. Could you share the exact contents of the error, operation system, browser version and java version?

I am currently using windows xp, firefox 6.0 and Java Version 6 Update 22. The game has not caused such errors for me, although there was a really weird java error i got only sometimes with the newest java version when testing the game locally...

Interesting and really original bullet patterns.
Is this targeted at mobile platforms?

@Udderdude
Thank you! Unfortunately the bug is essentially a java bug not a coding error at my part, which means that i can not solve it. Switching browsers has worked for some people. I hope that will be a temporary solution for anyone interested enough to go trough the trouble of switching browsers just to play a random game. If the people working with netlogo fix the bug, then the game will also be "fixed" ASAP.

Thanks, i was really aiming for that. It is not targeted at any platform.

Compaired to other languages I've used Java is really quite easy.

What exactly does clicking the mouse button do other than wave her wand? I can't seem to figure out what good it's for.

left mouse button(Clover dawn):
  • restart game by pressing score - no confirmations asked
  • no shooting - hold LMB down to stop shooting
  • counter stun - getting hit stuns. This can be countered by switching left mouse button state either from up to down or from down to up
  • slap with flower - the enemy can be slapped with the blossom of the flower. 3 sparks will be released. get really close to do this
  • speed up replay - click anywhere during a replay to speed it up
  • reembody fairy during replay - take control of the fairy at any time during replay by clicking at her

I'll have to try this again.

I gave Clover Dawn a try. I really hoped there was a scale or fullscreen option, but there wasn't, so I found it difficult to see the bullets at 1:1.

I really liked some of the bullet patterns, it's too bad it felt near impossible on anything else but Easy because of the lack of scale or fullscreen.

Whats your screen resolution? Scaling can be done by adjusting it.

An update to Clover dawn is on its way. Details will be posted when it is done.

I wasn't about to change my desktop resolution for a browser game, sorry.

Firefox's zoom function also doesn't cause it to scale.

Clover dawn changes:
*automatic flower slap
*game fading continues for full duration even if life is gained
*unclearable bullets will be made into sparks if pattern ends
*bullet grazing and spark collecting now possible while stunned
*bullet pattern visuals, dynamics and performance tweaked
*2x resolution added

I'm interested in feedback for 2x resolution from those that use it. Does it lag too badly? For me its around 24-40fps.

I might instead add custom resolution option or stop supporting higher resolution option completely. The game does not scale too well right now.

So far lunatic mode has been the only difficulty level that i have not been able to defeat without effort. This time however hard mode and sometimes even normal mode can give me trouble. I am glad that this is so - difficulty levels should be living up to their names.

It definitely lags more in 2x mode. Not sure what you can do to improve that, as I don't really have any experience with the kind of Java library you're using.

The lag in 2x mode could be fixed if i would learn a lower level language instead doing all the work in netlogo. Until that happens, higher resolution games won't be available.

Flowering spring meadow changes:
*corrected amount of bullets turned into sparks

Clover dawn changes:
*code restructuring
*fixed replay desynchronization
*motivation and pattern% indicator visualization fix
*pattern% calculation change if game over
*flower slap conditions fixed
*fixed stun indicator coloring
*added blossom losing indicator
*tweaked one patter duration

Will Magical Encounter also be in Java + Netlogo?

Doesn't run for me.
It loads the applet. Ask me if i want to continue, i click yes.
Java logo and load bar appears, it turns white, and it sits there, white.
(At least it has been doing that for the last 10 minutes).

using :
firefox 22.0
java se 7 u25 10.25.2.17 (what kind of version numbering is this?)

I don't have chrome installed atm, and don't feel like installing it.
Too bad, because the game looks cool on the screenshot.

I can say that it is not a bug on my end. Must be one of those layers of lower level programming languages that makes the applet not load. Some time ago there existed a bug where something like you described happened in case the applet wasn't downloaded fast enough. I believe about 30seconds was the magical limit for loading. All resources for the game are about 4MB. Restarting the browser when that occurred was a must for solving it.

I use Java SE build 1.7.0_25-b17 and firefox 22.0

Magical encounter changes:
*fixed motivation and pattern% indicators staying on screen in case fading game during patterns that end when getting hit once
*#4 Made easy mode appealing and less difficult, normal mode less difficult, hard harder, lunatic more difficult
*#5 Clouds now gradually move in instead of coming like a wall
*#8 Lowered first bright bullet wave speed for two lowest difficulties
*#1 Two lowest difficulties have their small bullet shooting conditions changed so that shooting does not occur on lower parts of the screen

Shooting is automatic.

It is indicated by the barely visible sparks that are emitted at the target. Left mouse button can be pressed to stop shooting. To shoot harder get close to the target.
