So Daifukkatsu 1.5 did get a reprint? I was wondering about this as I only remember DFK BL?

I know The Chop sold his poster for very cheap, that's why I couldn't remember if it had been reprinted (didn't think it had been tbh.)

Re: Cave Reprint List
I don't understand why people view this as a bad thing. These games were never meant to be collected in the first place. Second, it's much better that artwork is available for actual use than have it be exclusive to collectors that keep it hidden away in their closets in ZOMG mint condition.
Seriously, what a selfish attitude. The notion that something is only desireable if nobody else can have it is shitty.
And why is this thread in the trading forum?

If you'd paid over 30,000 on a poster that was then reprinted for 2,000 Yen would you not be pissed? I'm all for wider access to this stuff but they could have at least distinguished the reprints from the originals.

Perhaps, but that's not really a notion, it's a fact. Things get more desirable the harder they are to acquire.brentsg wrote:The notion that something is only desireable if nobody else can have it is shitty.

As it completely goes against the grain in Japan to not designate when something is original (those guys are all about bespoke/limited run goods) I'm in the camp that think carbon reprints are a poor move.
None of this matters of course, the thread is meant to be an informative catalogue. If you want to discuss Cave's bent practices open a new one.

Re: Cave Reprint List
Hard to say, i would never spend 30,000 yen for any poster. I think it is difficult to spend thus much on a poster and expect a positive outcome.SuperPang wrote:If you'd paid over 30,000 on a poster that was then reprinted for 2,000 Yen would you not be pissed? Certainly i understand that perspective, and I know you at least display some of yours. But for most this is a need to maintain the value of an item that is hidden away, never to be seen.
Anyways, I guess I was referring to kit artwork, not so much posters. I dont worry with them much. Now if I buy a brand new kit and receive a damaged poster that ticks me off, but different story.

Re: Cave Reprint List
For the most part, nice list. However, there should be further notes. Some things have been reprinted into the ground (ESPRade, Ketsui, Guwange are available just about all the time) where as things like Futari BL, Ibara BL only once or twice, and would still probably demand some dough.

It was... at one of the old events. I do recall it selling out though. Very likely just leftovers. But, it was available to some outside the kit.Pink Sweets B1 Posters
Art set was as well... again, at one of the older ones.cools wrote:AFAIK none of the Pink Sweets stuff recieved reprints.

Hmm.... yeah, either I've missed something, or definitely not true.Approximate guide only. Certain matsuri posters (like the Deathsmiles Yoko) are extremely rare, whereas the Mushihimesama Futari Yoko are very common. In short, sell 'em for whatever you want.
Why? If you can find people to pay more money for something in worse condition than new, please point them to me.- An original kit print of a reprinted artset should always fetch a little extra (closer to the $60 bracket.)
Didn't an ESPGaluda II art set linger around here for much cheaper?- An artset never reprinted around $85+

If you paid that much for a poster, you obviously enjoyed it enough to warrant the purchase.SuperPang wrote:If you'd paid over 30,000 on a poster that was then reprinted for 2,000 Yen would you not be pissed? Shouldn't matter what happens after the fact.
Bummed out that I could have gotten it cheaper? Sure.
But thems the breaks.

i am selling one very cheap.

Re: Cave Reprint List
Thanks for all the tips GP. In fact, my first draft included how common the reprints were and I tried to do a scale to indicate, but it felt like a bit of a long haul.GaijinPunch wrote:For the most part, nice list. However, I think you're right, indicating which stuff is common does help differentiate values of reprints (for instance, I know Ketsui posters are a penny a piece.)
Re: Deathsmiles Yoko being rare, I got that from you. If it's been reprinted several times since, I'm none the wiser, so let me know.
I'll likely scrap the price related info for something with a scale.
More input required!

Re: Cave Reprint List
I think this is a bad idea and needs abandoned completely.
When collectors start to take over a basic hobby like arcade games, it gets bad. When they start driving the prices of posters up to $400, it's worse.
All this does is add another category so people can buy/sell posters and art.

If you simply wanted a list with no commentary on the reprint practice, then you shouldn't have included your personal feelings on the matter in your OP.Skykid wrote:None of this matters of course, the thread is meant to be an informative catalogue. Are you talking about the Progear poster?TonK wrote: When collectors start to take over a basic hobby like arcade games, it gets bad. When they start driving the prices of posters up to $400, it's worse.
That's cheap.

Right, I've just taken off the pricing approximations. Basically I know lowest rung is $40, the rest is up to the seller/buyer to decide.
I thought about how to structure a scale of how rare/common a reprint is, and it's really a pain in the ass.
I came up with something like this:
...but I don't really have the info to properly nail all of these. For instance the Espgaluda got reprinted a fuckload, but is it really so common anymore? It's a bit of a difficult scale to judge tbh (I'm sure GP has a lot more info, so you're welcome to the task if you fancy it.)Scarcity Scale:
Common - Lowest price for an artset (approx $40)
Average - Was reprinted, possibly several times, but not as easy to acquire as it once was.
Rare - Was reprinted, possibly just once, and is fairly difficult to come by.
Reprinted Artsets:
Espgaluda (A)
Guwange (A)
Ketsui (C)
Ibara (R)
I can't pass up an opportunity for abrasive humour.brentsg wrote:If you simply wanted a list with no commentary on the reprint practice, then you shouldn't have included your personal feelings on the matter in your OP.Skykid wrote:None of this matters of course, the thread is meant to be an informative catalogue. Re: Cave Reprint List
Sporting my mod-cap, I'd say this should go in shmups chat. That's where the likes of Sven 666's superb superplays thread goes. I'll move it now, but you're welcome to present a case for why it should stay here (I just fear opening the floodgates and ending up with a few too many guides and so on in the trading station.
This is great work though Skykid. Reference materials like this are a real highlight and strength of the forum in my opinion.
Unbuckling myself from my mod's hat, I thought I'd ask: these kit art reprints; do they include everything (minus box/PCB/PCB feet, bubble wrap)? The images on that French site look like it's just the operators black and white instruction sheets, and the paper colour gameplay instructions. Do they in fact also include the POP and move strip sticker?

Reprints contain a basic set of four components:
Marquee
POP
Movestrip
Instruction sheet
They don't include anything else. For instance, Ketsui has 2 additional instruction sheets in blue and yellow which aren't included with a reprint set.
I'll update the OP with the info.

Skykid, thanks for such informative thread and to all the people who contributes with great info. By reading the reprinted list, I just realized I got fucked by the way...
oh well, that's life. As TonK said, I'll enjoy the game and not think about how much I paid for the damn kit.
I think this thread belongs to the "Shmups Chat" subforum better too. And about the prices, if I were you I would not include any. Adding the correct CAVE boxes for each kit here would make the thread complete
I know there's a thread about this but is confusing and the pictures are gone in some cases. And talking about pictures, the last thing I'm missing is photos but I understand if this can take time and a lot of effort. Thanks again!

This could be a resourceful thread if your reasoning behind it wasn't simply just "Anyone else feeling the Cave reprint meh?"

Fuck off ignoramus, do you really think that's the sole reason I bothered to write the entire thing up. Personally, I don't give a toss about repro shiz, you lot go mad. I stopped caring years ago. I did the list cos someone asked and I was bored.
