I finally clicked with what you're supposed to be doing in BL last night and enjoyed it immensely. Never felt quite in control though - four(?) shot types with different speeds... Very different to a normal DDP. Can see what Yagawa was trying to do, not sure he's created a masterpiece (it's brutal - Pink Sweets is easier with the rank up) but it's far superior to 1.5.Skykid wrote:OR, just play Black Label because it rulez so hard.

I have no idea how to read those graphs and I suck at Kanji, but maybe someone can tell us how much Cave is worth from this link.sven666 wrote:seems like CAVE have sold a big stake of the company to GREE http://gree-corp.com/ as of aug 24th (deal finalised yesterday)

Gree is a mobile gaming company, they don't care about arcade or console games. This is where Cave has been heading anyway.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:I hope this wont have any effect on arcade / console releases.sven666 wrote:seems like CAVE have sold a big stake of the company to GREE http://gree-corp.com/ as of aug 24th (deal finalised yesterday)

So it's kinda the same scenario as when TAITO got eaten by Square Enix.
Re: The future of Cave
Depends how much percentage stake Gree has bought.

Some of you might've already been aware of this, but apparently some Japanese brick-and-mortar retailers are deep-sixing their 360 stuff altogether...might partially explain why Cave seems to be moving away from the platform.

That's good, pity people are still making stuff on current consoles. 360 hardware is really outdated, need a new console generation.

Sure

Will we see "bullet-hell-shmups´s with billion of shoots at the same time on the screen?
Come on man - do you really think we will get more 2d-shmup´s ( at least on any kind of
disc and fullprice ) on the "next-generation-consoles" than on the Xbox360 ? Do you belive
Sony will find love for 2d-games on the PS4 ?
Or maybe - you made a joke and I didn´t realised it ??

Gree is a mobile game hub/platform. They're way bigger than Cave, so Cave may benefit from selling them shares. They advertise on prime time TV...

Errr, 360 was dead on arrival in Japan, going 360-only was the biggest error in Cave's history, and now they are facing the consequences. Some of you might've already been aware of this, but apparently some Japanese brick-and-mortar retailers are deep-sixing their 360 stuff altogether...might partially explain why Cave seems to be moving away from the platform.
Cave, Square, Namco, tri-ace, Mistwalker etc. are the biggest loosers in this generation, and they failed because of their stupid 360-Obsession. Japanese PS3 Developers like Gust, From software or Atlus don't have problems like that, Why ?

Japanese companys going 360-only, Bizarroworld here I come

But hey, no one bought those Cave Shooters on the 360 anyway>>>>>>>> more Ports in the future on other platforms

Re: The future of Cave
Why do we always have to keep repeating ourselves that the shooter developers are happy with the 360 and the sales of their games on it, cheap devkits and whatnot the people who give a damn about the genre as said by the guys at MOSS,CAVE etc already own a 360.Last_Dancer wrote:

:
I dont why many people think that the shooters being on PS3 would somehow result in 100000000 sales if something the few that have reached the PS3 have bombed so badly its not even funny,
Re: The future of Cave
Well those shooters haven't really been worth playing.
Re: The future of Cave
Sumez wrote:Well those shooters haven't really been worth playing.
The fact that the Japanese 360 has about 3 shooters that have reached Platinum release I dont believe I need more explaining.
Oh and really great logic blaming the 360 for CAVEs so called financial issues even though first time in history except (Steep slope sliders) We are getting CAVE ports in PAL and NTSC-U/C and they are actually selling good.Last_Dancer wrote:CAVE are the biggest loosers in this generation, and they failed because of their stupid 360-Obsession

I'm pretty sure Sumez was referring to what few PS3 shooters there are.
Though I heard Super Stardust HD was okay.

Re: The future of Cave
Im glad Cave developed for the 360 rather than the PS3. Considering the rumours about Sony's snubbing 2D devs and all the hoops Cave would have to jump though to get their games on the PS3.
Dodonpachi PS3 that's vertizontal? No thanks

Hey Im glad its on 360 for those reason and the following CAVE manages to screw up Xbox 360 ports imagine them working with the PS3 devkits what kind of abominations of man would they be producing one can only imagine.
Re: The future of Cave
Are you retarded? If you take either of Mistwalker's Xbox360 games, that game would have sold more than their entire DS/Wii library did combined.Last_Dancer wrote:Cave, Square, Namco, tri-ace, Mistwalker etc. are the biggest loosers in this generation, and they failed because of their stupid 360-Obsession. In so far as Cave, it was my understanding that their ports were doing incredibly well within the realm of the genre. In fact, IIRC Death Smiles was near the top of JP Sales charts the week it came out. Pretty sure that hadn't happened often for Cave in the past.
And in so far as their sales in general, averaging 20K sold per port isn't that bad at all.
RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!!!
Re: The future of Cave
Pretty damn sure they wouldn't have given us 10+ games over 2 years if they weren't happy with sales. Anyway, I really want a Deathsmiles, Mushi, or Galuda part 3!
Go buy Akai Katana!
