I was about to post the same thing

DOJ isn't that different compared to DDP - the main difference is that you can't no longer blindly 1cc it just by bombing the hell out of everything. I never memorized anything in DDP and got the clear rather easily.

hell, I think that cave games overall are some of the easiest ones around to simply 1cc

hey congrats :D I remember the feeling!!

I haven't cleared another game since that thread due to an extensive break, but I feel the urge to play again with STGT arousing me.
I've tried ketsui,EspGaluda and DDP/DOJ and it's really not my stuff.
I want to clear at least 1 game this year(I'm lowering goals cause I'm lazy).

Man I have 4 1ccs and I'm still busting my ass trying to 1-ALL DDP, congrats man!

Don't give up on Cave games, I'm sure you could get Death Smiles pretty quickly, and I definitely feel Futari BL Original is significantly easier than DDP.

Congrats to you, Aguraki, for making your first 1cc! I had made a single credits so far on more than 40 shmups last year, but that was just a start for me since I entered this forum. I've been practicing back when I was young, and now I seek for more challenges. Good luck to your own future 1cc quests. :)

So after that 1-ALL on DDP I naturally started playing DOJ to get a much needed break from playing DDP for days on end. After a few hours I got to Stage 3 without loosing a life. I think it's mostly because DDP gave me some basic skills. Of course, Stage 3 and onward seems pretty TOUGH. I started losing lives pretty quickly after that.

Hmm...I think I'm gonna try out a few shmups before I decide to settle on one to tackle. After that perhaps I'll go back and try to 2-ALL DDP. Not quite sure what I want to take on though. I do tend to favor vertical Cave shooters with ships instead of little humanoid characters, but perhaps I should try some old school stuff (although I gotta say that I've been really itching to play Mushihimesama, as watching those YouTube video did pique my interest in bullet hell).

I haven't super skills and this is the result of hard work only.
Used to play shmups when I was younger(I'm 33 now) but since starting again I seriously doubted I could clear something with my poor skills.
Bumping, cos earlier this year I got my 1st 1CC (Slap Fight / Alcon PCB) at 37 years old. A game I loved BITD in the arcades and the C64 version. Within 2 months I was challenging the 4th loop & got the Twin Galaxies high score (something I would never have dreamt off when I got the PCB a year earlier).

I've never really played any CAVE games properly, but whatever you're playing, skills come with practice & dedication, i.e. hard work.

Instead of starting on another game I think I'm gonna try to learn how to score. It's fun! Here is my first high score for Stage 1 of DDP. Well, high by my standards anyway.

Congrats dude, Donpachi is a wily one. People seem to think it's some walk in the park because of the first three stages, but it ramps up pretty fierce, you've done well.

In some ways Dodonpachi can be a touch easier with Ship C/Shot type, so get on it!

Yeah, that difficulty ramp in Stage 4/5 is something to be reckoned with >_<. I'm working towards that DonPachi 1CC myself. Best run to date ended midway through Stage 4.

Maybe that's why it took you so long to 1CC a game
I know I'm responding to an older post here, but whats up with people hating on the PS2 pad? I mean, he did say "playstation 2 like pad" which means it's probably not as good, but PS2 pads are pretty baller. I got a lot of 1CCs with my trusty red PS2 pad. 1-all DOJ, mushi maniac, espgaluda, and almost gradius V before I bought my stick.

QUIT HATIN' YO
Haha, I know that plenty of people like it and plenty hate it. I'm honestly somewhere in between. The ironic thing is that I'm using a dualshock2 right now for my Mame setup, it's alright but does hurt my hands after a few days of regular play... Old arthritic guy here (30 next month).

Just chiming in here to celebrate my first 1cc as well. Yesterday evening I 1cc'ed Futari Black Label Original, my first ever credit clear! I know it's an easy one but I'm still mighty pleased with it. Only scored a paltry 263m but still. Now I'm deciding whether to go for score (which seems to be a frustrating experience as far as I can tell, very unforgiving) or go and practice for a 1cc on DFK Black Label, which I guess will be quite hard. .
