Doesn't seem to be any logical reason for it other than looting and violence, started out with mainly sports and electronics shops and then spread to everything else, even bloody Oxfam.

Actually I've heard a mixture of things as well, but the media here is maintaining that it's just brutes and degenerates overrunning the police at London which is meant to be a big whoop considering they're hosting the Olympics next year.

A british friend of mine reckons part of it is opportunists while another part of it has something to do with recent racial tensions regarding some law to deport immigrants or some such nonsense. The various crap one hears eh.

Hopefully no one innocent gets too badly hurt. One shouldn't have to suffer from having crap thrown into their house just because they happen to live in the area where all that's happening.

Well the initial London riot can be traced back to a shooting by police officers a few days back which triggered the first bout of violence. The eruptions elsewhere though seem to be a case of people seeing looting and thinking 'I'll get me some of that'.

I'm getting married on Saturday in Manchester town centre so I really hope it doesn't get fucked up too much for selfish reasons. Obviously I hope it calms down for the sake of everyone, especially people like a friend of mine who was attacked last night for no reason and a girl I know in town who was worried whether she should leave her high rise flat as she could smell burning and didn't know whether it was her block on fire or something outside.

I want to go into town now to have a look around but can't help thinking that it might be better to stay away today.

Its the Fatherless Fools that used to cause trouble and nothing else at the TROC, causing it to close down at least once a week. Plus many more of the same of course.

The Govt is ultimately to blame, in my view. Having a 'housing priority for single parent mothers' for soooo long that those fatherless kids have now grown up into teenagers.
No father to keep them indoors etc. No-one to show them the way.
The Govt should realise their massive error and switch to the opposite policy ->Housing benefits for married couples only. Russia used to do this in the 80s and huge amounts of Russians got married.

This all stems from the fact that teenagers with shit education gave birth before ever having to work for anything. They live on hand outs by the government all their lives so they have more kids to keep that going. Now we are at the point where that generation has grown up. It is these people who are looting/rioting.

Most of them are thicker than shite and working on more babies as we speak.

On a slightly more serious note, I know little about what exactly is going on over there, but I'd assume that there's probably at least some truth to this:

When I were a teenager I were put in my place. I was scared to confront my teacher, my parents and the police. I bet others did too. Therefore this didn't happen then. That respect is now lost.

As for people starving, nobody is starving. The UK starvation rate is less than 1 person per year. These twats get free food and housing and still rob places.

already been pointed out above, no one is taking any notice of peaceful protests any more.

Whether the riots get the desired results is another matter - but it's actually started a nation wide debate where as march after march of peaceful protest has done absolutely nothing.

It's basically pandering to the media PR machine - marches don't make for good 24 hour news figures. This is the result of running News shows like they are action movie shorts - only HARD HITTING ACTION will keep the viewing figures up. Said it before - the day the News started competing with actual entertainment channels for viewing figures was the day news reporting slipped into a coma. The news SHOULD be boring, yet every time i switch on CNN or any other 24 hour news programming and it's like a constant stream of FEAR, DEATH, DISEASE, DOOM, NOW HERES THE SPORTS, FEAR, DEATH, DOOM :/ From a service to yet another entertainment outlet.
