More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
It looks like Rising Star Games have plans to bring more Cave games to Europe.
At least, they hope to.

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG
Is this a dream?but Rising Star is confident that Cave titles will be a regular feature of its future line-ups

It sounds almost too good to be true.

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG
Great news. Those of us with PAL region consoles can regret not getting a JP console a little bit less.
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG
I wouldn't expect DDP to outperform DeathSmiles, but these are still great news. There are a lot of Cave games for the X360 that could use some localization

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Great news indeed. I've edited the thread subject line to include '(?)', as I felt previously it was a bit of a statement of fact as if there was an actual line-up confirmed or something.

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
I predict Deathsmiles 2 and Akai Katana in that order.
Everything else I think has some licensing issue.

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Since Japanese characters are completely integrated into Akai Katana's menus, art and graphics it makes me wonder whether it would be reasonable to expect a localization.
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Great news indeed though far from an official announcement. On the other hand knowing how long it takes them (and Cave) to bring the stuff over to us Europeans I'll keep my excitement-level low until there's a release date or something. I know they don't want to oversaturate the market but even DDP-Resurrection is not exactly around the corner. Hope it won't drown among all the other interesting titles in November.spadgy wrote:It looks like Rising Star Games have plans to bring more Cave games to Europe.

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Since someone mentioned the other non-Cave licensed titles... what are the odds of seeing DOJ or Ketsui released in the West ever? 5pb did release Bullet Souls as region free so maybe there is a remote chance of them releasing those two as GoD or something?

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
thanks for the news but am I the only one who thinks this is not really telling us any more than we already knew? basically from what i quickly read is that Deathsmiles did ok for them (we knew this) and they expect dodon res to do just as well if not better (well i would imagine it should) so if this is the case they will look into releasing more CAVE games (seems common sense and what we would have expected)

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
It seems that RSG are looking to localise Cave's shmups 1 at a time, using the last game as a yardstick to see if its worth localising more. Ive read in another article that RSG said they would love to localise Red Katana so I expect that to come to PAL sooner or later. I wonder how DS2X is gonna make its way to europe? RSG Boxed or GOD what do you chaps think?
I personally hope DDP is recieved in a good light by the gaming press, I hope they dont all make an issue over the higher price and DLC and say it belongs on XBLA priced at 400msp or some other horseshit. IMO RSG would of been better releasing this game during the summer when the industries quiet just like Aksys did with DS1
It would be nice If RSG would pick up one or two non Cave shmups like RFA or Otomedius 2

That interview is here:
http://www.midlifegamer.net/2011/07/dod ... urrection/
He mentions Akai Katana at the end - good news. By the time that gets a pal release hopefully Cave will have pulled their finger out and made a couple more Arcade games.
Don't hold your breath for DS2.

I seriously actually saw this scenario coming the magic of PAL eh?
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
1) This happened during the PS2 era too, with all of the 505 Gamestreet budget releases of JP shootersratikal wrote:It's like the tables are turned. Americans are getting to shaft now. :/
2) Raiden IV and Raiden Fighters Aces are still US/JP exclusive as of the writing of this post

Yup, we could well have a two-generation losing streak on our hands this side of the Atlantic.ratikal wrote:It's like the tables are turned. Americans are getting to shaft now. :/

Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Atm the US has more shmups than europe does. DDP will only make it our 2nd boxed shmup for the 360, TBH I cant really see Cave not bothering to put more of their titles on XBLA / GOD if they cant find a publisher (which if RSG's DDP sells well might help them with that)
Thats the good / bad thing about Cave they are always trying new ways to distribute their titles it makes it really fucking difficult to guess what their next move is. Not that im grumbling as they have bent over backwards latley trying to get their games to the west.

I bought a US PS2 last generation only because of all those gems that never came out in Europe.
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
I seriously hope they keep releasing more CAVE stuff in PAL. Akai Katana would be perfect. Hope DFK does well for RSG.
Wait what shooters did US get, that wasn't available in PAL? We had tons of shooters here in Europe last gen.Sumez wrote: I bought a US PS2 last generation only because of all those gems that never came out in Europe.

Why would lolis be more popular than space ships in the West?Sumez wrote:I wouldn't expect DDP to outperform DeathSmiles
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Lets just make sure everyone buys DFK and screw the DLC boycotting...
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
I just hope that Cave uses this opportunity to release more of the games that were region locked as region free. Seems like the smart thing to do.
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Because this isn't the 80's or 90's anymorebcass wrote: Why would lolis be more popular than space ships in the West?

Japan and anime has become so hip even western animation is trying to mimic it.
Well, shooters is really far from the only genre I play. There are a ton of RPGs on PS2 that never made it to Europe.hipgnosis wrote: Wait what shooters did US get, that wasn't available in PAL? We had tons of shooters here in Europe last gen.
I figured the shooters were released in US as well, but I guess they weren't?
Not really like Silpheed and the Psikyo shooters are that interesting, anyway. Most interesting EU shooter release for PS2 was the re-release of Shienryu, I guess, which isn't saying much - basically almost all of the PS2 shooters had previously been released on Saturn.
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
Damn right. That would only massively dent our chances of future RSG Cave PAL releases.Zeron wrote:screw the DLC boycotting...
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
I think it will outsell Deathsmiles in the West. Donpachi/Dodonpachi is Cave's most recognised "brand" outside Japan.Sumez wrote:Because this isn't the 80's or 90's anymorebcass wrote: Why would lolis be more popular than space ships in the West?

I agree and not to mention the fact that Dai Fukkatsu has it all the DDP brand name, ships, oversized robotic anime females.
Though all I give a shit about is ships and music.
Re: More PAL Cave releases from RSG (?)
I don't think the DDP brand name has any value at all to anyone who's not a shmup/arcade geek. And those guys will be well aware of Deathsmiles as well. The trick is selling to the typical consumer who isn't into Cave games but might dig a good classic shooter anyway (the genre isn't as doomed as people here seem to think).
Eg. look at the Touhou crowd, they'll be more likely to eat up DeathSmiles than a spaceship game.
