Okay guys...posting another update:
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift is coming July 1st in Japan, and July 27th in the U.S. on PS3 and XBox 360.
We're getting DLC patches updated Unlimited Characters, but also it's suspected there are at least 3 DLC characters.
Key things to know:
==Major Changes from "Calamity Trigger"==
--Tsubaki Yayoi and Hazama are now playable characters.
--The Console version will enable you to unlock Mu-12 (Noel's True Form)
--A new DLC lets you play as Makoto (and possibly two other so-far unnamed characters, it's slated for August 5th release, but it might be a little later on PSN). But even if you don't get the DLC, the patch will come automatically so you'll still get to play people who downloaded Makoto even if you didn't.
--Updated Unlimited Character movelists from CT, a lot of which are showcased here:
http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/30192
--New trophy achievements are available (not that it's all that important).
That's it for now...hope you're looking forward to it.

That's all cool news coming down the grapevine, Blade. So what proper arcade stick do you use with PS3 or 360 ports of BB? Tis a shame that there isn't an LE Box of BB:CS available to pre-order stateside like how it is for the JPN PS3 BB:CS port release. It might be best to pick it up on day one of release just for the extra BB:CS goodies/bonuses alone.

There are Continuum Shift themed Mad Catz TE sticks but they're basically the same as the Round 1/Round 2 TE sticks.

Re: Upcoming Arcsys/Aksys News and Info Thread:
What about these: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl- ... -3sc5.html, would they be worth the cost to import?
lol
Re: Upcoming Arcsys/Aksys News and Info Thread:
No. Mad Catz TE sticks are the best retail sticks out there. If you don't like how common they are and want something more of a collector's item, the Hori VLX line is nice as well (though much pricier).
Also, if you like Continuum Shift enough to have its artwork on your arcade stick, you don't have to pay the premium for the BlazBlue themed TE sticks (which has a $50 higher MSRP than the other sticks. The other sticks are also easily bought for less than MSRP). One of the biggest advantages of the Mad Catz sticks is how customizable they are. Just buy a $100 Round 1 stick, go to http://www.tek-innovations.com and get yourself an Arthong plexi, and go nuts with whatever custom BlazBlue art you want.
To be clear though, the Hori BlazBlue stick looks to be the same as http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-zl- ... -3nvh.html, which is a very nice stick in its own right. I just personally don't believe that it's worth the premium to import especially when there are equal or superior options available in the domestic market.

Aksys news: according to Siliconera (the best source for early news on smaller JP-oriented localizers), Aksys is localizing Gladiator Begins (PSP) and Blazing Souls: Accelerate (PSP version of Blazing Souls). I may get these games when the prices drop although I haven't heard good things about either.

Re: Upcoming Arcsys/Aksys News and Info Thread:
Just a minor news update:
Arcana Heart 3 is coming to PS3 soon (dunno about 360),
BlazBlue Continuum Shift recently updated to System v1.02, got rid of some glitches, but there's a glitch related to Training Mode if you happen to be training during Ranked Battle, so I'd steer clear of it for the time being if you play Ragna, Hazama, or plan to play Valkenhayn.
360 release of Valkenhayn got delayed to an unknown date due to a crashing error.
PSN release of Valkenhayn is still scheduled for 9/28 of next week, but they plan on making a PSN fix patch soon for the above mentioned glitch.
7.99 on PSN (oh yeah and Makoto's there too if you forgot to get her).
3.99 for Jin's Voice Announcer (JP version sounds like Jin/US version is more American-british-like, not bad though)
3.99 for Taokaka's Voice Announcer (JP version is okay/US version is really REALLY BAD)
3.99 for Carl Clover's Voice Announcer (JP version is okay/US version sounds really British)
I recommend the Jin one, at least. Also there are DLC colors as well (Guilty Gear colors included in the packs, 8th color in the set).

In case anyone's not paying attention to the news:
--Relius Clover confirmed as a playable character (sometime either during this Winter or next year when the Vita gets released) for BlazBlue, this probably means he will be DLC along with Valkenhayn, Platinum, and Makoto. New stories will also be included in the Vita version of the game that weren't included in the PSP version.
--Arc System Works recently acquired the rights to making another Guilty Gear game, which Daisuke says will be released "eventually".
As always for more info check www.dustloop.com forums.

Hahaha. I like 2-D fighting and the controls seemed really simplistic. However, I think there was one character where all I did was jump, push one button, jump, push another button... or just push one button for the whole time!ChainsawGuitarSP wrote:Buying any version of BlazBlue is a big mistake. The original Street Fighter had simple controls, but the difficulty level was much higher.

I've only played it a few times using the μ-12 character against the computer and was able to beat it by... not doing much. In order to exploit its combo and fighting mechanics, I'd have to play against someone who knows how to play it.Sumez wrote:BlazBlue... simplistic!?!?
While I did love the graphics, the dub was annoying as hell. I shoulda forked over the cash for the import.

There's definitely dual dialogues in Continuum Shift for the 360, and multiple text languages too... not sure about the PS3 version but I'd be surprised if it was different.
Very curious about that Guilty Gear license... even if I'm a bit nervous after reading a recent Arcsys interview where they said they wanted to get rid of more systems in their fighting games

Edited for accuracy. Also, playing BB for story is even more retarded then playing it competitively. A friend of mine actually coined a term to describe childish and/or grimdark stories like this.mesh control wrote:You've never played any other fighter, have you?

Re: Upcoming Arcsys/Aksys News and Info Thread:
BlazBlue has had Dual Dialogue option since Calamity Trigger first hit PS3 and PSP in America. The only version of the game that doesn't have the dual-language option is the Japanese versions (for obvious reasons). So BBCT, BBCS, and BBCS2 for any game console are dual-dubbed audio, that includes DLC characters as well. The only downside to this is the Announcer System Voice DLCs are done by the JP Voice Actors, so you might get some really bad dubbing when they try to speak English depending on who does the Announcer (I recommend Tetsuya A).Aliquantic wrote:There's definitely dual dialogues in Continuum Shift for the 360, and multiple text languages too... not sure about the PS3 version but I'd be surprised if it was different.

Worth noting that Guilty Gear 2: Overture was the first to start this Dual-Dubbed Trend as far as Guilty Gear is concerned, so you can pretty much be assured the next GG will have Japanese and English Audio as options (though possibly not as complex as Capcom does their characters on a single-character basis, examples being SSFIV and MVC3).
The main reason they said they want to get "rid of more systems" is because spreading out a game across many platforms isn't cost-effective even if it is profitable...what they mean is, they want less consoles to port over to, since PS3/360/PSP/3DS/Vita all have BlazBlue on them.
@Chainsawguitar: Don't bash people who like fighting games for their story, even if it's BlazBlue...

The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

That’s interesting. I agree there is a lot players need to master and understand to be a mid-tier player for an Arc System Works fighting game. How do you feel you can make the games, even the ones you’re developing now, more accessible?
One idea is there is the possibility to get rid of all the complicated stuff and start over all over again with a brand new game without all of the extra systems.
Is that something you would really do?
To be honest, we have the feeling that we want to do that to reset the game. [Laughs and pauses to think.]
Well, it is pretty hard because many players like different elements from the games. It’s difficult to cutout some pieces. If we have less systems some players might not like that. That is a dilemma.
Re: Upcoming Arcsys/Aksys News and Info Thread:
Oh they mean "resetting the game's system" as in starting over with a new combat system. Drive System may or may not be good, but, I don't think they'll get rid of it entirely. They HAVE been tweaking things from CT to CS to CS2, like air unblockables, instant blocking, the guard primers, etc....it's hard to notice if you don't pay attention to the finer details.
The world would be a better place if there were less shooters and more dot-eaters.

I don't really see what's wrong with BB as a competitive game. It may not be as complex as Guilty Gear, but I don't see anything massively broken or any ridiculous mechanics designed solely to give bad players a way to make a comeback.

Re: Upcoming Arcsys/Aksys News and Info Thread:
Throws are flat out useless due to being so heavily telegraphed, gold bursts cause guard crush for easy reversals, guard primer system severely limits the amount of blockstrings you can actually use to guard crush, which makes the game even more linear than it was before. Did I mention there's hardly any freedom in the way you can combo in this game? the worst offender by far is the 5F autofire that makes dropping your combos flat out impossible. Where's the fun in playing competitively when the game doesn't allow any mistakes from either end? oh yeah, and negative penalty is retarded. Backdash once too many times and now you take 2x damage. THIS IS A PERFECT WAY TO REWARD SOMEONE FOR PLAYING SMART.
I don't remember much about the changes made from CT to CS so excuse me if I'm a little off, but above all this game is just boring as shit.

I never new what Negative Penalty did. For real? You evade too much and your slapped with x2 damage?
Actually, I was wondering if anyone thought there was a balance issue with Tager. It seems like you can use any of the other characters and chip away at his life for ages, then he gets a few random punches in + a 360 motion and it's KO.
Iv'e never heard of any issues regarding this anywhere but me and my mate have practically banned him from the character select. It just seems like he does TOO MUCH DAMAGE...

You get a Negative Warning if you backdash/move back too much for a while yes, and if you keep it up you then get Negative State and double the damage, but it's rare to reach that state.
I'm a casual player but Tager annoys me too due to being so "all or nothing, don't make mistakes or suffer"... he's actually the lowest tier character at high-level though, and certainly looks like a one-trick pony, but you get used to it to some extend eventually I think. Now Score Attack Tager, that one is annoying with the AI amazing reflexes
