Best emulator for Metal Slug?

Post by evil_ash_xero »

X and 3 run very well in the new MAME, but the first one is a touch laggy.

Is there anything else I could use? Final Burn or something?

I haven't tried many others, so I don't know if it's the best today, but NeoRAGEx used to run at least the first five games pretty close to perfectly for me. Check it out!

Oh, you might need to download the Neo Geo BIOS separately - I can't quite remember. I'd reacquaint myself with how it all works for you, but I don't have access to a proper PC at the moment (hence the lack of useful links). Sorry!

It's probably being emulated correctly, MS1 does have more slowdown than X and 3.

No no, it's the input lag. It's a little worse.

I tried it out, and the input lag was fine. UNTIL I had to turn on Triple Buffering. Now it's the same as MAME. And the scanlines aren't to my liking either.

Seems like some emulators get a lot more input lag than others, when turning on TB. I have to, or my screen tears all over the place.

It's really weird how Metal Slug X and 3 both work great in MAME, but the first one is a little sluggish.

Have you tried homebrew MVS/AES emulators on DC ? I read AES4ALL was pretty good.

I play Slug 1 for score with wolfmame 106, and lag is absent. I use these options:
