It's a bit wider than that would be, I think the playing field is actually a square, but it's definitely not the same as the "full" vertizontals.

Life Force obviously goes with Salamander.

There's also Captain Tomaday, Alpha Mission II (the original as well?), and Ninja Commando. There are probably some older games that do this as well... what was the first "vertizontal" game?

Fast Striker (Neo MVS)

I don't think Strikers 1945+ counts. It's a vertical game that's cut down for Yoko, like the Genesis port of Truxton or Fire Shark- or PS2 Gigawing Generations.

@Despatche: Alpha Mission 1 is NOT vertizontal- it's Tate.

Use the ground weapon to open holes in the ground (when powered up a few times). Then figure out a route you want to take for each level, as only above or below the surface has a boss (for example). The game looks great, has nice music. Sure, it has the "die and you're fucked" syndrome, but I much prefer this to that crap fest we had to suffer through in STGT last week.
