Salamander Duleuxe PSX vs. Sega Saturn
Salamander Duleuxe PSX vs. Sega Saturn
Can someone help me decide? I try to do a search and couldn't find the appropriate results. I'm currently looking for the PS1 version, as I don't have a Saturn, but if it isn't worth it, then I'll hold off.
Thanks
Thanks
I have the PSX version. It works great, no problems or issues whatsoever, even when playing on PS2. I don't think there are any differences between the two versions.
Great games, too.

No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Bit of hyperbole there.tehkao wrote:BTW avoid the PS1 TFV at all costs. Don't let the pretty FMV and extras fool you, it's a horrible port and you get slowdown from hell whenever a boss shows up.

Anyway, the concensus is generally that the early Konami PSX/SAT ports were largely equal in quality. Personally, I went with the SAT versions.
Funny, I never noticed this slowdown, at least not during the boss. The Saturn version may be better, but IMO, the PSX version is a fine version of the game.tehkao wrote:BTW avoid the PS1 TFV at all costs. All varieties of controllers work on all systems. However, some PS2 games like The Bouncer don't support PS controllers since they don't have analog buttons and some PS2 games like Mega Man Anniversary Collection don't support the original non-dual-analog PS controller for no apparent reason.Shatterhand wrote: I thought this would work only in PS2 systems? I know the PS1 controller works with a PS2, but I am not sure if the opposite is true.
I DO KNOW, however, that my PS1 multi-tap DOES NOT work in my friend's PS2...
However, PS Multitaps don't work on PS2's and neither do Guncons.
And I'd also like to add that since L1 and R1 are on the face rather than R1 and R2, it'll be annoying to set up controller configs for Capcom's 6-button fighters.

It will not be represented because it sucks, but after seeing where the corresponding PS2 buttons will go in that picture, I have a bad feeling that this one will suck too.
There's no way I'd be comfortable playing Mega Man AC (or any other action game, really) using X and A on that Saturn controller. They should have made L1 and R1 X and A and shifted the others over. Hopefully I can edit the button config in the games I want to get it for.

Rubbish. It fits snugger in my hands - the model 2 pad feels flimsy in comparison. Not to mention the model 1 has a better d-pad, sort of smooth and concave, which makes for easy down-to-forward motions in beat-em-up games, which is the main reason I would use a Saturn pad over the PS one, because not content with being just generally shit in general, the PS pad had to go one better and be SPECTACULARLY shit in this particular area of gaming.OmegaFlareX wrote:It will not be represented because it sucks.
And to bring this nearer to being on topic - Salamander 2 used to work in MAME32 Plus for me, but now, the RAM ROM check shows the top line as being Bad. Does anyone know what this corresponds to? I might of changed a MAME default, or something silly, only I can't pinpoint it.
