Game Arts Founder Dies
Takeshi Miyaji, one of the founders of Game Arts, has died at age 45 - no cause of death has been specified, to the best of my knowledge.
Shmuppers probably know him best for Silpheed, though he was also involved with Gungriffon and Grandia - in any event, sad to see most anyone go so young.

45 is way too young.

If he lived a fruitful life in that short time on earth, then that's better than living to be 100 and have a miserable existence.
My condolences, even though I've yet to play his games.

To this day, Grandia 1 is one of my favorite RPGs.

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Did he work on Alisia Dragoon too? That game is seriously underrated and awesome.

Didn't like what little Alisia Dragoon I played that much, but Zeliard sure looks rad. Is it better on the NEC PC-8801?
One of things I like about games is that following this form of entertainment allowed me to witness what seemed like aeon's worth of history with my very own eyes. To think MOST living legends out there are still around, and those few who've come to past (like Gunpei Yokoi and now this chap) did so prematurely...

Cock. That's no age. He worked on quite a few childhood favourites; I'll be sure to raise a glass for him this evening.
Re: Game Arts Founder Dies
Does anyone have a decent list of the games/titles he was credited with? I'm sure he worked on more than Grandia and Gungriffon.

May he rest in peace knowing that he made many gamers happy, and that Grandia's battle system PWNS the heck out of anything Square has ever done. Only Panzer Dragoon Saga's is up to par.
I'll fire up Lunar on the Sega CD in memoriam.
