Looks like more of the same, and the first was incredibly dull. I really don't get what people see in this game. Is it the graphics?

EDIT: Oh, "remaster". I think it's sleep time for me.

Of course, that's just an opinion.

Well, it is the same game with a higher resolution and other visual updates, so...yeah. More of the same is exactly what it is and it's advertised as such.

I'll be buying this version as well. The game's fun and fast-paced, I think I cleared it around 25 times. Having an updated version of that can't be a bad thing, though I'm hoping they'll make a proper Ether Vapor 2 somewhere along the line.

Buying it - those small changes are fixing exactly what I didn't like too much about the original. (graphically)

Got my copy in the mail today and unsurprisingly it's Ether Vapor that looks prettier. In addition there's that new ship that I imagine will be unlocked upon clearing the game, online leaderboards and the game downloads and applies patches automatically. Still, if one has already played enough Ether Vapor there's little reason to get this new version. Of course, it's excellent that the game can be easily found again, for those who missed it the first time around, as it still is a jolly fun game to play. Back in the day I must've cleared it around 25 times. Now, when I played Remaster, I've forgotten so much of it I couldn't get past stage 4. Guess I gotta train myself back up a bit, maybe I'll even finally get the no-miss clear with this version.

Amusingly, I think Edelweiss forgot to put something in, I keep seeing "Dummy" here and there in what I assume is the role of placeholder text. Or maybe the game's just insulting me. That bastard.

I think it has to do with the fact that an official english translation might be coming sooner or later. The guy from Carpe Fulgur was at Comiket 80 so who wouldn't be surprised if Ether Vapor gets a western release and Steam "caves" (heh) once and for all in regards of schmukmups. Would love to see it in Gamersgate DRM-free too.

Either way, mine should be shipping sooner or later. I have the original release courtesy of SFKhoa. Still thanking him after all this time, lol.

The remaster adds the chance to skip story bits altogether and playing with "flashy" seconds to introduce bosses between stages. I know you could skip everything but this makes things even more packed. The game needs urgently a successor playing with perspectives again.
