Actually, I rather like the familiarity that numbered sequels/prequels offer, with their revised stylized logos and promises of more of what one liked about the previous edition.Smraedis wrote:Nicecouldn't think of another name though?
ORD I couldn't agree more with you mate, it's such a shame, this forum used to be great and everyone really used to be enthusiastic about things like this. Now most members are just waiting to pounce on the next release and pick holes in anything they can find with little justification, it's really quite pathetic and sad.Ord wrote:Y'know the peeps in this forum crack me up! Cave annonce that we're going to get ANOTHER shooter, basically a long dead and forgotten genre that we love, and we do nothing but bitch and moan about it. Sure a handful of developers still make the odd shooter, but don't kid yourselves, it a dying genre.
We deride the fact that it isn't an original IP. Hell sadly we have people here mumping about the bloody art work.
What the Hell happened to these forums? Used to be a time when a new shooter was greeted with enthuisim. Used to be a time when a new shooter by Cave was greeted with RABID enthuisism.
Sad as FUCK!
Really, we keep getting new shmups, the PS2 is practically a home fuggin' ARCADE for the genre, and still people gripe.Ord wrote:Y'know the peeps in this forum crack me up! I'm hoping they make these changes in ESPG2:bloodflowers wrote:Another thumbs up for a sequel to Galuda - one of my favourite Cave games (although a Guwange style game would be equally welcome). This time I'd like to see more than 2 selectable characters, or some kind of weapon variance to pick from. If they go down the techno/dance route again for audio (which although I hate the genre, made an interesting change in a shmup and seemed to fit the game) - let's have some fairly dark sounding stuff like the first boss tune in Einhander - with the distorted background vocals and so on.
Well since it's called ESPGaluda 2 and not ESP???, we are assuming it will use the exact same system as ESPGaluda with a few tweaks. Not that ESPGaluda wasn't great, but when the only thing that changes is the graphics/music and score system, it's a bit disappointing to expect the exact same thing. Well I hope I'm wrong.neorichieb1971 wrote:Does the name of the game actually matter? Your going to be flying upwards, shooting alot of stuff, weaving and dodging etc.
Hmm...guess it could be, but then again Galuda is supposed to be somewhere "in the same series" as Ra.de, and it turned out almost entirely differently...you're probably right about this game being closer to Galuda than Galuda was to Ra.de, but I guess there's always hope for something different. Maybe they'll include different modes a la Mushi, for different play styles...something Galuda-ish and something Ra.de-ish separately, maybe? I think that'd be neat to see.Dandy J wrote:Well since it's called ESPGaluda 2 and not ESP???, we are assuming it will use the exact same system as ESPGaluda with a few tweaks.

Really, I'm excited about this.
The other poster is right, how come nobody threw a "fit" when "Die Ole ..." was released. There are at least what, 4 DDP's?
Oh well, I suppose Guwange 2 would suck balls as well...

I'm just glad there's another forum with a far friendlier and enthusiastic member base.
News flash, another Cave game being released is a GOOD thing, ESPGaluda was magnificent, in fact I can't think of a Cave game that isn't. Be happy for christ's sake!!

What are you talking about?? Why are you making things up?twe wrote:I'm hoping they make these changes in ESPG2:
1)Either eliminate the Kakusei Over system, or make it easier to recharge. In the first game this is THE most important factor in properly chaining a level, as if you aren't at the Kakusei Over MAX level at the end of level 1, you can't get enough jewels to maintain your kakusei-mode chains long enough throughout the rest of the game. When you die, you go back down to ZERO kakusei over, and it's a pain in the ass to recharge to MAX, particularly past level 3. This really kills your score.
Uhh no, he's right. A higher 'over' level gets you bonus green gems when you kill an enemy 'high up' on the screen. I think it was in the top 1/3rd of the screen. This was well documented in the old info thread when the game first came out.MrMonkeyMan wrote:What are you talking about?? You had me all worried I had been missing some important scoring mechanic all this time, so I went and tested this out right away. Doesn't make a difference what your over level is, it only effects the points you get when you're in red kakusei mode.
Whew, don't scare me like that.
Oh, I like ESPGaluda, so I like this news.
