I really did want to like the game.
Did you play 2017 on the higher difficulties? I thought it was really boring the first time I played through on Normal as well, but I really started to appreciate it on Hard & Hardest (and then Inferno) because you have to go into each stage with a strategy and play smart in order to survive. And with all of the different weapons, there's a ton of ways to tackle each stage. I had a lot of fun with it.
I can't really say much about Insect Armageddon though - I only played through it on Normal so far and I thought it was pretty lame. But maybe I'll like it more once I play the higher difficulties and do some online co-op.
Also, pesticide weapons are hilarious. I'll probably finish up the remaining Normal and Hard chapters using this. Is there any reason to continue grinding out other classes? I have a rank 8 Battle Armor. If all classes end up with the same pesticide weapon, there's really no point.
The pesticide weapons for the other classes aren't as easy to use, as you don't have the shield to protect your ass. That being said, they all do the same basic thing.
I keep playing this. One of my characters is maxed (Trooper) and it's really a blast. I bought Mass Effect 2 in a bargain bin and as much as I truly love it so far (I think I'm halfway through), I keep putting EDF:IA back in my console when I sist down for a random session.
The thing gets much more fun once you're into the last levels of Hard / Inferno with guns packing ridiculous firepower. Once you get over how disappointing the ending is (we couldn't believe it that that was it) and start replaying levels, the fun starts imo. Remix is a pretty nice addition, too. Also, pretty much what Elixir said in his review about Survival: I'd like to use my loadout. While I liked 2017 better, anyone on the fence should definitely look into it.
Muchos años después, frente al pelotón de fusilamiento...
Just finished up on hard with a mate in co-op. Great fun! Need to grind my arse off on the beginning of Inferno to build up the bucks for some bad ass weapons and to get my armour up to tier 7. Good times.
