What's the proper price for DoReMi?

Post by evil_ash_xero »

At some point, i'm gonna buy this sucker. But it seems like DoReMi: Milon's Doki Doki Adventure is a bit rare.

What would you guys say is the "proper" price point for this game in VG to NM shape?

VG to NM can be quite a difference when you're talking about Super Famicom stuff.

Ebay prices are insanity distilled, but YHJ puts it on a rising scale between £80 - £120 depending on condition, so you should be looking for something along those lines.

A loose cart is just over £10 on YHJ, so effectively the paper materials are often worth over ten times the price of the actual game.

The 279 Euro one that appeared for sale on here last month was stupid, if that's the reason you're asking.

Yeah, that's why i'm asking. I saw that crazy price, and was a little knocked back.

Just do what everyone else did and ignore it.

Yeah, I see it boxed for triple digits whenever it's on US Ebay. Cart only it goes for like 15-30 range.

I did. And it was only in "good" condition too.

The thing about Doremi (apart from some of the asking prices) is it's actually one of those super expensive games that's pretty good. It's not the best platformer ever - gets a little repetitive after a while - but it's generally nice all round.

It's some of the other stuff that you'd feel like you got kicked in the nuts for buying (unless you're a collector in which case it's all about the RAERITIEZ).

Case in point: Iron Commando. Has anyone actually played Iron Commando? What a bag of shit. Go and grab a rom and try to get through the first stage. It's like they lifted as much out of Capcom's Cadillacs and Dinosaurs as they could (not a bad idea, it's a very good game) and threw it all together into one big mash up - but none of it works. The health of your character and the enemies is totally out of whack, the weapons are fun until you realise they're useless, and you just get continually kicked in due to lack of power, ropey controls and poor collision detection.

It sucks, and whoever forks out top dollar for it should know that before buying.

Likewise, Gourmet Sentai isn't much better (although it is, marginally.) Its weirdness is a nice novelty factor, otherwise there's a lack of moves and only about three music tracks on repeat. There's definitely some interesting stuff in there, but it's no great game.

Anyway, rambling.

haha - it was the last game i wanted boxed to round off my SFC collection even though i had a loose cart and - yeah - great looking and all that but cheap to the point of being a complete load of gash. You can't build a beat up and then have unescapable attacks and cheap shit going down. Stores here are buying it back in at 20,000 a pop for a full copy and some places offering 6-7k for a loose copy.

Not going to hear a peep out of me about Gourmet as i'm about to sell it! (though i'm selling a VGC CIB copy for around $80 rather than $$$STUPID$$$)
(it's an okay game and at least has a ton of character - i can see why it's desired where as Iron Commando is trading off looks and rarity alone)

Usual adage really - just becuase it's rare doesn't mean it's good. If i had a pound for every dogshit "rare" game that was hyped on the web becuase of it's "ner nerrr i know about this and you don't" factor i'd have at least 59 quid. AT LEAST.

Gourmet isn't that bad compared if you're a sucker for weird Japanese novelty games.

$80 makes me insanely jealous though, it cost me about £90 when I bought it in Mandarake.

DoReMi is a good game, yeah. Like you said, it's not the best, but it is a good-fun platformer. It's a lot better than the first one!

I've never heard of this Iron Commando. I may have to check out the ROM. I don't buy games for rarity or anything. Just ones I like.
