First few goes. I can do a lot better than that but so little time. I'm posting for the Team!

somehow I just HAVE to die 1-2 times at the first boss
1up - 295,900 - 3 - Koitsu - MAME
I think it was level 3? I beat the mermaid and went on to a giant battle ship. kinda like the one in R-Type stage 3. Died, ofcourse, but was moved on to candy land with giant gems and destructable walls? is that level 3 or 4?

Yeah, it is hard to tell what level you are actually on - can't tell if these are bosses or mini-bosses.1up wrote:somehow I just HAVE to die 1-2 times at the first boss

I got to the stage w/fire walls and some joker face with a springy neck. Got to him all pimped out and w/all my lives - dude ended me over and over again in about 10 seconds. What's his fuckin' problem? But yeah, what level is that? 4th i'm guessing. Haven't mastered the bells in regard to colors / points, but slowly getting higher scores.

The Moai ship stage appears randomly. Don't know if you can miss it completely during a run or not.

You know what? This game is actually rather fun, definitely an improvement over Xexexexex or Twinbee Yahhoo.

Don't mind me, just joining in for this week. First score of the week.
Unregistered Participant
Icarus - 902,900 - 6 - Koitsu - PSP [Pic: http://twitpic.com/5vuvp8]
Started speedzone with no powerups, died a few times, got through it fully powered, then screwed up the following stage getting greedy. :/
Just getting some quick practice in, changing to WolfMAME later this week. Aiming to beat my personal best at least, or get through Special Stage.

Re: STGT'11 Week 1: Gokujyou Parodius
Hi,
I just registered because I'm considering joining the tournament, just for fun. I'm no expert player by any means. I've liked shmups since my childhood (Life Force, etc), but I've only played them occasionally, and just recently got into Cave shmups (I love Deathsmiles).
But enough introduction, my question is: Is the PSX version acceptable if played with an emulator, or does it have to be the real hardware?

Oh, yeah. But I meant on an emulator rather than a real Playstation, but I guess that's a yes.rcantor77 wrote:Read post 1.. it has been updated.hiptanaka wrote:

Anyway, I just remembered there was a registration period, so I guess I can't join now. I might follow along anyway just to see what I can get.

I have exceeded my daily allotment of colour playing this game. I need to go play some brown washed-out cover-based shooters to recover.

Looks like you still have time. Free Agents Two seems to be the only team with an available space. In the registration thread, dex wrote:Lastly, as said, I will accept late registrations, since someone might have been away on holiday and just returned or somesuch, but for obvious reasons registrations will simply not be accepted after the first week finishes.
Arcade scores that are done in MAME are fine, so I don't see why emulated PSX scores should be treated differently.

I guess getting hit by a balloon could kill you. I should stop getting too greedy.

Having to put up with checkpoints for the priviledge of being able to have two speed-ups is lame, although I'm not sure how much difference it makes since I seem to lose the rest of my lives pretty quick either way.
