So yeah, at certain random times in the game when I press "joystick right," Tiger's movement either hiccups (causing me to die in many annoying cases), or doesn't obey the input at all. I don't know whether it's my shitty loose joystick (Hyperkin K.O.) that's causing the problem, or if it's MAME deciding to be an asshole right when I'm relentlessly practicing to meet requirements for the next loop. :/ Any ideas as to what might be the cause? Anyone have a similar problem who could possibly shed light on this? Muchos grassy ass.
Oh, and this is the latest version of MAME I'm using, with the third version of Ketsui.

I'd recommend trying a different game first, then if they still muck up try a game that's not emulated in MAME, and then if it still happens try using the keyboard instead of the joystick/gamepad to see if you can narrow it down to your controls.
You also might want to check your "Game Controllers" section in Control Panel to see how well your joystick is responding, and calibrate it if necessary.
