I am trying to play this via emulation and it seems pretty awesome but is it supposed to reset to the title screen every time I press down? (well, almost every time - sometimes I can walk up and down on walls, at random).
Game is driving me crazy.

Re: Ancipital (C64)
I remember that game. Completely mental.
Goat Man firing fruit at enemies. Classic Minter.
Don't know about the menu thing. Found some instructions here:

Re: Ancipital (C64)
I figured it out last night while I was nodding off to sleep, or in a dream. I had both joysticks set to the same configuration in both ports and the game didn't like that. Works fine now. Looks like I have a new entrant for my top 25! I think this is the first game where you can switch gravity.

Re: Ancipital (C64)
Wow, this was the first Jeff Minter game I played. A friend brought it over, and I always remembered the game but not the name (except for the name of the level "kick in the nuts"). Years later, I got Llamatron on my PC, and I started to see a Yak-like pattern
So, eventually I was able to track it down again.
Craziness.. hope you enjoy it!

Glad you figured it out.Drum wrote:I figured it out last night while I was nodding off to sleep, or in a dream. I had both joysticks set to the same configuration in both ports and the game didn't like that. Works fine now.
Hover Bovver and Attack of the Mutant Camels are the ones I remember the most.

www.lemon64.com has the rom (and they only have roms of games wih permission from the owners, as far as I know), which Jeff Minter released into the public domain. Oddly, the rom on Jeff Minter's website plays Dropzone.
Re: Ancipital (C64)
Maybe it's Jeff's idea of a joke!

Will have to look at Jeff's back catalogue. Need to dig out an emulator.
I wonder if Thrust is available for free. I loved that game on the C64 and the Rob Hubbard music was ace!
I found a metal cover of the Thrust music a while back. Love it (being a metal fan as well as a retro games geek):

Not that I know of, though there are a couple homebrew and fan ports. I have the 2600 one on cart and like it quite a bit. It actually has the Thrust music done 2600 style. Video of 2600 musicSui wrote:
