DoDonPachi Stages 5 & 6

So, I finally got through stages 1-4 on one life today. Feels pretty awesome. However, now I'm trying to learn stage 5 and it's REALLY difficult for me. Once I get to the bit where there are large grey base turrets in the center of the screen that fire masses of pink bullets I get trapped. Each time I play this section I have difficulty finding a relatively safe route. Any ideas?

I expect that these last two stages of the game will be a bit difficult for me to conquer. Any insights or suggestions for these levels would be greatly appreciated.
