Hey guys, I recently wrote an article for the first issue of Kick Punch Block, detailing why Mars Matrix is an excellent way to introduce the joys of high-scoring to newcomers. It also has some nice original art to go with it, and I think it has the best layout in the magazine. I'd appreciate it if you guys would at least check it out, and consider giving the magazine a purchase. I also did the comic on the back, which I'm really proud of.

I apologize if posting your own stuff is in bad taste, I just thought you guys might be interested. If this violates some solicitation rules, I'm prepared to be shot down in my prime by bulletmagnet.
If you guys do pick up a copy, I'd appreciate any positive feedback or constructive criticism. Thanks.

That's cool to hear of a MM write-up in a real published magazine. Is this Kick Punch Block #1 issue going to be distributed to Barnes & Noble bookstores or Walden's bookstores? They both are nation-wide based bookstore chains indeed.
I recall picking up a Gamefan issue that had an article of Capcom's CPS2 MM with some cool rendered CG artwork back in 2000. The article series "Shooter Alley" featured in Gamefan covered nothing but arcade shmup PCB titles, something that no other USA based video game magazine at that time would do (which made it unique).
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~

I'm with PC Engine Fan X! on this. I'll order online if necessary, but it would be nice to grab this in a book store. I assume there is great praise for gold cubes, reflection, and that badass train boss. I hope that original art is nice too.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

Nah, it's online purchase only. We're going to try for digital download versions of future issues, and if the mag gets enough steam it'll hopefully have more traditional distribution.
The article doesn't talk about the train boss, because I had to limit the focus in order to not talk about it for 10 pages. I think it's something that'll appeal to shooter fans and newcomers to the genre, though. You can check out the artwork by clicking on the magazine cover and going to page 14. I told the artist to try and give Mars Matrix some cute-em-up flair, but he didn't go all out like I thought he would. Still looks very nice, though, imo.
And yeah, the magazine title is a Parappa reference. Kinda surprised anybody caught it, since it could apply to a lot of different games...
