VGA to DVI Converter

Well I will be getting a new graphics card and I noticed that it only had DVI ports and my CRT obviously only has support for VGA will a VGA-DVI converter add some displaylag?

DVI connectors on graphics cards support both Digital and Analogue so really its just a matter of plugging in the adaptor to convert the port into a VGA port.

Video cards come with converters for the very reason you are asking. The DVI connector on your video card carries analogue RGB just like what comes over a VGA port, so all you are really doing is making a one-to-one connection for a VGA plug. This works because the card has those signals assigned to pins. There is no actual signal conversion happening so there is no lag. It is worth noting that most DVI display devices do not have the same setup as your video card, that is to say, they do not always have analogue input for a VGA signal over the DVI slot, so you cannot typically use those kinds of converters in reverse.
