Fraxy and Danmakufu

Post by chempop »

I don't know much about these, but they are never mentioned here so I thought I'd ask - what the hell is this shit?! I just saw a rather disturbing YouTube vid involving ketsui-bieber-dfk...

Also saw a 15min boss fight with a space-Buddha

I'm not going to bother with links, but feel free to post em if you got em.

These two bullet engines have both been around for a while now, Danmakufu being Touhou-orientated and Fraxy looking a bit more generalised (The bullet patterns in all the Fraxy videos I've seen all look like their bullet speeds are limited to "slower-than-Cave-when-lagging-horribly" as maximum, but I can't say I've really bothered to look into them more closely.

Danmakufu is definitely one of the better engines around methinks, as Sasupoika proves with this.

Sounds like Ebbo's (Eboshidori's) handiwork. He likes flavoring his Fraxy work with a vague story involving Hindu/Buddhist concepts and the demon who beats everything up through the power of infinite continues. :P

Fraxy bullets can go pretty fast. I like it more for what it can do beyond just danmaku/bullet hell though, DrTekTo's Atlas for a non-Eboshidori example.

Yeah that Atlas vid looks pretty neat actually. Watching that reminded me of why I didn't like Fraxy though (that broken euroshmup feeling), but that's probably personal taste more than anything broken on their end, definitely LOOKS excellent anyhow.

Fraxy is pretty cool. I just wish someone would create an actual full game with it someday, with stages, a specific power-up set, realistic life/continue system, specific music, etc. If such a thing is even possible. It never really feels like anything more than a novelty to me otherwise. Messing around with other people's boss creations gets boring after about 10 minutes.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Definetely possible - just pretty hard. But the fact is Fraxy isn't that good engine for full blown shmups... Still pretty fun play around with :P

Huh. I think you need to get acquainted with an old game called Zugya.

This Zugya?

Huh. I think that underpowered shot that does nothing but peashoot gives me the feeling of broken euroshmups, a feeling that Zugya does not give me but Fraxy boss templates frankly do. ESPECIALLY the manic clones that aren't manic.

Yep, thar she blows! Pretty scary, I definitely don't approve.
There is a funny one called "a battle of epileptic proportions" that is equally f-ed up. Sorry, I dont know how to post the non-mobile link with my phone.
