Ok, the more I play Zetsu, the more damn awesome it gets. Shin is nice enough, but the bosses get WAY too easy in that mode (the katanas just MELT them).

Once I figured out how to produce the pink suicide bullets, my score skyrocketed:

Zetsu

Bridget - 307,083,820 - stage 5 - Type 1

If I'd actually COMPLETED stage 5 and the boss, instead of dying stupidly a bit after the midboss (note to self, STOP RAMMING THINGS) I think I mighta hit 400 mil.

Anyone who says this game isnt hard, isnt playing for score. This is very definitely the sort of game where you sorta HAVE to play for score, or you're not gonna get much out of it.

Got some new Zetsu scores:
iconoclast - 502,680,970 - Stage 7 - Type 1

iconoclast - 411,426,434 - Stage 6 (Boss) - Type 2

iconoclast - 430,573,544 - Stage 6 - Type 3

Really love the scoring system in this game. I hope I'll be able to hit 600m or so with a 1cc eventually.

Arcade
dan76 - 241,337,120 - ALL - Yaezakura

Replay is up on live.

Had to bomb spam my way through the last boss... Still no clue as to how to score well in stage 5 - and my nemesis seems to be the stage 2 boss. On this run I managed not to lose a life by bombing through it. She gives me the fear way more than stage 3 or 4. The whole fight is so cramped.

I detest the Stage 2 boss too. I loose a life there about every other time there.

Still, here's my rather weak score submission:

Arcade

Humm... I got some time for this today and got my score up a little bit:

Zetsu:
jp - 352,234,149 - Stage 6(Boss) - Type 1

I hate the twins. I hate them. I also hate the fact that I always get there with like, one life and one bomb. The annoying part is I can 1LC every single level and boss up to that point (separately), but I am yet to do so in the same run. This run was kind of weird though, as I fumbled through like, Stages 4-6. Somehow still did OK though.

I'm also out on how to score well at the Stage 5 boss. I always have a weak finish with her, whereas with the Stage 4 boss I get like, 700+ big coins.

I imagine this will be my last update for awhile. Made a little bit of progress though, so I'm throwing it out there:

Zetsu:
jp - 380,776,311 - Stage 7 - Type 1

Score wise it was a terrible run (for me, I have no idea what people are doing to get 500+), but I did make it to level 6 with 3 lives! (both deaths came in Stage 4 of all places, and both were just stupid deaths). Then I died twice in a row during the first hallway. :x

Made it to the twins without dying again, and I actually managed to take 'em down! Though I went into the final boss with no bombs and a sliver of ninja gauge left, so of course I died immediately.

I can see 400mill easily on the horizon (as I was about 30 mill under my norm when I entered Stage 6), so... I'll just post again whenever I hit that. ^_^

Zetsu
dan76 - 422,588,483 - Stage 6 - Yaezakura

After getting frustrated at not progressing in Arcade I thought I'd give this a go. I really like the way that shooting enemies with red lasers give you loads of energy - certainly helps out. The extra stage is pretty good to.

Nice score, CRI!

Btw, would anybody mind updating me with current records with each type for Shin and Zetsu modes at least? I don't have access to leaderboards, and I feel the scores listed in the first post are badly outdated by this point.

Started playing this again, got some new Zetsu scores. Forgive the horrible quality of the pics, but I don't have a camera so I had to take the pics with a webcam and blow them up to make them readable. :\

I started using Type 2 more often, and now I've finally cleared the game. Took long enough!

Akai Katana - Zetsu
iconoclast - 795,737,397 - ALL - TYPE 2 (Kikyou & Botan)

I think I'm ranked either #2 or #3 with each character now. Gonna take a little break from this and move on to something else. I love this game though, I think it's the best thing to come out of Cave since Futari. :)

Lol, I am not that good. But I finally got a Shin score I'm happy with.

Shin
iconoclast - 3,117,198,720 - ALL - Type 2

And if you want to update the world records, here are the current ones from the leaderboard:

kuchiniko - 4,593,270,609 - Type 1
sinmoon - 7,241,623,000 - Type 2
okiheki - 4,078,889,516 - Type 3

Not sure if there are any higher scores on the DVD though.

Many thanks for that! I assume all of those leaderboard records as well as your score are best ending clears?

No, I died on stage 6 in my run, so I didn't make it to the TLB. sinmoon and okiheki's runs are TLB clears, but kuchiniko didn't upload his replay, so I'm not sure. Probably safe to assume it is a TLB clear though.

And here's some quick and dirty Arcade scores:

iconoclast - 229,926,382 - ALL - Type 1

iconoclast - 226,105,278 - ALL - Type 2

Okay, last wave of scores for now. I'm not happy with a couple of these, but I'm starting to get burned out, so screw it.

Shin
iconoclast - 2,513,583,324 - ALL - Type 1
iconoclast - 2,291,700,693 - ALL - Type 3

Zetsu
iconoclast - 881,441,947 - ALL - Type 1
iconoclast - 829,889,399 - ALL - Type 3

(and I just noticed that a TLB clear on the leaderboard is identifiable by blinking text - so yeah, the Type 1 Shin world record is a TLB clear)

chrono - 2,010,247,912 - ALL - Type 1
Shin Yukai - 1,436,925,924 - ALL - Type 2

That Type 1 score is from the DVD, and the top Type 3 score hasn't changed. Zetsu doesn't have the TLB either, so those are just regular ALLs.

deexor - 308,366,930 - ALL - Type 3
