Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
Hi,
I just bought a sigma Raijin Supergun from Japan but the graphic is poor on my LCD TV, I used S Video output (RED GREEN WHITE Cable). It also has a RGB 21 pins Cable but my TV does not have this plug. I would like to ask what can I do? Thanks.

Moving to Hardware.
Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
I'd suggest getting an older TV with s-video, and you can get those for few bucks or free off craigslist. Check your local area, someone is always trying to get rid of their heavy CRT.
You also have RGB so could invest in a upscan converter + SLG3000. Might do the trick with your LCD assuming it does VGA.

Best way to go about this is tell us what your TV is and what inputs it does have.

If I buy XRGB-3 UP SCAN CONVERTER will do the same? Thanks.

My TV is Sony Bravia 32" LCD, it has composite input (Red/White/Yellow) and Component input (Red/Blue/Green). Thanks.

Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
You can go about it different ways.
I'd talk to retrocables.co.uk and ask them the best option. Since they do raijin cables and have a CSY2100 (converts RGB to component) convertor. You could buy an XRGB3 and do it that way. You will get some complications doing that though.
1) Some PCB's especially Seibu run at a strange frequency which doesn't work with the XRGB.
2) You need lots of cabes dangling everywhere.
You could try to find a cheaper XRGB2 used. This works with PCB's of most if not all frequencies I think. I've got one and it works on everything so far.
I'm surprised Svideo is giving a crappy picture on a Sony Bravia 32" tbh.

I'm sorry that I made a mistake, I use Composite output for my Supergun (RED/YELLOW/White). I would like to ask that If I buy a VGA Monitor then I don't need to buy Converter because XRGB3 Converter is not cheap. On the other hand, you mentioned CSY2100 Converter, I bought it few weeks ago from ebay but the picture is unstable, no color and unclear, I adjusted the knobs inside of this converter, it remains unchanged. Thanks.

Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
I never had that problem with my setup. It was clear.
Are you using RGB Scart cables for your CSY2100?
The problem I have with playing a supergun on a VGA monitor is that you might as well use MAME.

I'm using 21pins RGB cable input to CSY2100 and I'm using Component Cable output from this converter which means even I use VGA Monitor, I have to use a converter as well? Also I'm using my Supergun tp play with blue elf 2 game jamma board. Thanks.
Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
Why? Mame will do a far better job.dsquared2 wrote:I'm using my Supergun tp play with blue elf 2 game jamma board. Thanks.

I don't know Mame has released game board and I have a Vega 9000dx Supergun as well, I slide the voltage button from 110v -220v inside of this Supergun. Unfortunately, the system was blown when I turn on. I think the fuse was blown but I buy a few fuses at my Local Electronic Store but no one can work. I would like to ask do you know how come? Thanks.
Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
My guess is the scart cable that came with your supergun is most likely a JP21. On the outside it looks like a common scart cable but they're wired differently. Might be the reason why you're getting an unstable picture through the CST2100 which only takes euro-scart. Either re-wire the scart cable you have now or buy a new one.dsquared2 wrote:

Probably because you seriously damaged the power supply when you switched to 220v, and plugged in a 110v outlet. Is that what happened? I hope I'm wrong.dsquared2 wrote:SuperPang wrote:Why? Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
Show us a screenshot of your image with the Scart cable.
The image sometimes shows using a JP21 but its monochrome I think. You certainly wouldn't get much colour.

Which means If I buy a European 21 Pins RGB Cable, it may work for CST2100?
My Vega 9000dx Supergun worked fine, when I switched 110v and I used transformer as well but I switched to 220v which is my country's voltage, I thought it does not need transformer, then you already know what happen.

Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
Yes, the CSY's RGB input is wired for SCART RGB (euro), and not JP21 RGB. However, even when converting to component, your TV may or may not display the resulting signal. If your TV does display the 240p component signal (result of arcade RGB to component conversion), you still might not be satisfied with the result. Sure, component would be an improvement over S-Video, but a XRGB would be the best solution picture quality wise. Your TV has a PC input (VGA connector), right?dsquared2 wrote:Which means If I buy a European 21 Pins RGB Cable, it may work for CSY2100?

Yes, MY TV has PC input . I just bought XRGB-3 upscale convertor yesterday from Japan, it is not cheap but I haven't received it yet. The seller will not ship it to oversea, fortunately, I got a friend in Japan, the converter will ship it to him first, then he send it back to me, it is terrible, it spend a lot time.
I hope this converter can solve the graphic's problem. I use 21 pins RGB input to this converter and plug to PC input of my TV, is that right? Thanks.

Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
I received my XRGB-3 upscan Converter yesterday, I used 21 pins RGB input and Analog output from Converter to my Samsung 22" Led TV. The graphic is much better than before and I tried all my games, they only got Graphics but all of them are "No Sound" and also when I play the games, the graphic are bend on the top of screen. I adjusted the setting on the converter, the problem remains the same. Also I tried B0 or B1 mode etc, it is no different between these modes for my TV.

Try the AFC setting.

I tried the AFC Setting, It fixed the problem of Graphic but I don't know why I play the games with no sound when I used this Converter. I plug in Headphone to this Converter, I can hear the sound. Thanks.
Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
The VGA out of the XRGB does not carry sound. You have to use the 3.5mm line out of the back of the XRGB. Don't use the headphone jacket - it's got bad quality.

Plug to the "line out" port on the back of the XRGB to the TV or Speaker? Thanks.
Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
You can do both. Do you want to use the internal speakers of your monitor (in case it has got speakers) ? You can also connect active speakers directly to the lineout of the XRGB. It's just important to use the line out and not the headphone out.

Yes, it got a sound now, thank you for your help. I have a question that I have a jamma board but I don't know why it does not work for my Sigma Raijin Supergun. It works for my other supergun but this supergun was blown now, I cannot play this game again. Thanks.
Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
Unlikely. A supergun does not nothing but passing through the RGB signal the Jamma board produces.
It's more likely that either the XRGB or your monitor can't support the signal delivered by the game. Which game PCB is it ?

That Supergun can work with the jamma board (Run and Gun 2) to my TV but unfortunately, my supergun was blown. Then I bought the Sigma Raijin Supergun but it does not work for this jamma board. On the other hand, I would like to ask that how to set the XRGB-3 with no scaline because it is strange for some games with Scanlines. Thanks.

any you tried this with the same TV ?Then I bought the Sigma Raijin Supergun but it does not work for this jamma board
Set the VL_V option to 255.I would like to ask that how to set the XRGB-3 with no scaline because it is strange for some games with Scanlines. Thanks.
Re: Question about Sigma Raijin Supergun..........
Check the +5V on the jamma edge with your multimeter. I bet that board is being underpowered. If so you just need to adjust the +5V pot on your supergun's power supply.dsquared2 wrote: That Supergun can work with the jamma board (Run and Gun 2) to my TV but unfortunately, my supergun was blown. I tried it in two different TV, such as, Samsung 22" LED TV and Sony 32" Lcd TV. Thanks.

I don't know why my sigma raijin Supergun's +5V pot blocked by plastic. It is original like this when it arrives to me. Thanks.
