Nice work! I haven't ever given any Psikyo games more attention than a few casual runs here and there. I think they're cool, but fast bullets kick my ass.

took me 2 years playing that game on and off. when you get used to the bullets the stages themselves wont be much of a problem but the bosses. jesus christ  epsecially the ones in lvl 6 an onwards. Havent played the game much since I completed the first loop so I absolutely stink now. will rarely make it to lvl 5.

1CC'ing vs. Castlevania. You take double damage and have way less time to get through the stage.

Actually If I think about what ive mostly been playing the past year has been 30% mainstream with the rest either doujin / Indie like noitu love 1&2 and Aquaria which im playing atm or 8 / 16bit retro like zelda 1 & 3, wonderboy 3 & 5 and phantasy star 1 (although i used maps for the later stages)

As for what mainstream games which due to buying a new PC I have been playing allot of this past few months its most been PC FPS / western rpgs like Fallout 3 (athough it looked good was a big disapointment), Mass Effect / Bio shock, Prey.

Although Ive been a PC gamer since around 1999 Ive only been online for about 3-4 years and as soon as I got online I signed up for my 1st and only MMO the sci fi mmo Eve Online, (a great game quite different to most other mmos but still very addictive and time consumming for anyone fighting 0.0 fleet battles) and I spent the about the next 2 years playing it and almost exclusively and nothing else apart from the odd game of HL2 or TF2. After eve I caught the retro gaming bug and then the shmup bug and indie / doujin bug all keeping me away from mainstream games.

Athough i try to share my time equally between the genres, due to me over the past 4 years have been continuing to buy mainstream PC games even though Im hardly playing them. So my pile of to play games gets ever bigger. And with me just buying the indie bundle and buying so many steam games that are on sale atm (meatboy, darkstalkers, Serious Sam HD, deadspace etc) , Im definatly going to have to change my traditional playstyle of progressing at a snails pace in an effort to expierence every aspect of a game into something more efficient. For example ive already clocked up around 30 hours in aquaria and i still havnt finished it yet, (prolly another 3-10 hours to go)

My achievements are only really achievements for myself... I don't think I've really done anything terribly noteworthy. =/

-Used to play Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow a lot in 1999-2000. My next door neighbor (8 years old) said his level 60 Raichu was indestructible. I proceeded to wipe out his entire team with a level 100 Gengar. The achievement part was when he ran away actually crying. I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard.
-SMB3 in 12m45s
-Beat Chrono Trigger over 50 times. Maxed out pretty much fucking everything. I wish I had friends.
-Decent number of Heavy AAAs and SDGs in DDR before 3x bar raping became the cool thing to do. Before I was fat, I used to run So Deep, Exotic Ethnic, Healing Vision Angelic Mix, Burning Heat, Max300, and then Maxx Unlimited on extra stage and walk away from the full set with AA and <100 greats for the whole thing. Then I got fat.
-Beat the original Final Fantasy with three white mages and a black mage because I hate myself.
-Had a level 60-something in Diablo 2: LoD Hardcore without ever getting runs or even trading with anyone outside of a group of four friends. The achievement was doing it over dial-up. Yeah.
-Did a 1v7 against computers in Starcraft (melee, not FFA) on Green Valleys and won. Whoopdie-shit.
-Beat Mega Man 9 in a single run in 28:30. /yawn
-I was going for Mr. Perfect in MM9, got Wily's last form down to about 1/4th health without taking a hit myself, and then he hit me. The achievement is that I beat him, put down the controller, turned off the 360, and then walked away from it WITHOUT breaking anything with my fucking chair and/or fist.
-I played MMORPGs for, like, five years... and I still managed to get girls. Some of them even without the roofies!
-Xbox 360 achievements I'm kinda proud of (DERP) Mirror's Edge 1k, Dead Rising 1k, Geometry Wars:RE 200, Geometry Wars:RE2 200 (Smile was a bitch), Guitar Hero 2 1k, Lumines 200 (my average games of Lumines take over two damned hours), Astropop 200. Emphasis on "kinda proud".
-1cc'd Mars Matrix after a month and some change of save state practice. Fucking stage 4 boss.
-1-ALL'd DDP after three days (I'd screwed around with it before, but never made it past stage 2, lulz). FUCK YEAH C-S AUTOFIRE BOMB SPAM CHEESE WIN
-I almost FC'd Knights of Cydonia in GH3 on Expert at a party while two drunk girls were scissoring with their clothes on and groping each other right in front of me. Can't break my focus, bitches, get back in the kitchen.

...I am pretty terrible at video games.

wow. You're a humble dude. I see some serious stuff in that list. Which one is Mr. Perfect in MM9. Is it not getting hit at all or not dying at all?

Not getting hit. Not dying is pretty easy. =/ I have an RL friend who has pulled off a single-session (no saves used - start to finish in one go) Mr. Perfect run. THAT'S something that's worthy of being called an achievement.

nothing great, but still fun memories to me.

- 1:10 speedrun in metroid fusion

- beat metroid prime on hard. ridley and metroid prime were so annoying i had that save file rest for about 5-6 years up until i had recently beat it. that must have been my happiest gaming moment of the past few years.

- i had all 151 pokemon on my blue cartridge back in the day

- once felt like playing sonic & knuckles out of the blue, and somehow ended up doing a 0-death run

- i have a perfectly shuffled orpheus on my persona 3 fes file. all that i'd need to do would be spending another dozen hours grinding for skill morphs, which is stupid, but i'm still happy i have managed to shuffle the right skills to keep and/or morph onto him

-I finished "Defender of the Crown" on the NES when I was 7.
-Won a battle of 300 vs 1500 in Medieval: Total War (2 archer units, 1 spear unit, 1 heavy cavalry).

Getting my MLG level 50 in Halo 3. Countless 1months, bad teamates, lag, cheaters, semi-pro, pro and tryhard kids later I achieved the pinacle of console FPS gaming.

1000 gamerscores on cod 2, cod 4, cod4 II, cod waw, odst, H3 and H:reach sum up the modern stuff.

I just started and finished Hard for the first time a few... months ago, Meta Ridley was horribly annoying but Metroid Prime was fairly easy; that was an 100% (first time, I only needed a guide for one missile expansion that I should have noticed beforehand) and an almost no-death (one mistake-death involving fire, ugh), and was very fun; also I turned music off, it helped with item collection

I have more problems with MP2, actually; the Ing Emperor is down right brutal on Hard and stupid easy on Normal

My best achievement was a speedrun for the first Fatal Frame.
Fatal difficulty, no save/death, S Rank, 1 Hour 14 Minutes.
Man, I wish I would've been able to record this, it's really close/if not the record.
I played the game just about daily for three months after already being really familiar with it for this run.
edit: it was for the xbox Directors Cut, so it also included the extra hidden boss.

Well, there were great gaming moments such as:

- all characters level 99 in Final Fantasy VII and X.
- 1cc midnight wonderers in the arcades.
- clearing Resident Evil deadly silence (DS original mode - you can skip loading screens with that one) in 45 minutes in front of a friend, just to show off you know
- 1cc' ing a Cave game, even if it is for survival.
- No miss Demon's Souls in offline mode (tough endurance test!).

...and now working to 1cc Deadstorm Pirates!

Great thread, happy new year :D

Yeah, well it literally took years of study (spoilers and wiki) to finally beat it and even then I haven't done it sense. Still, you know it's a great game when you can play it hundreds of times, never complete it hardly, and still have just as much fun as the first time you played it.

Also, achievement number two: Finally beat the first loop of Gradius III on SNES yesterday. Everyone stand aside and bask in my greatness  .

The mother of all my gaming achievements:

I've already mentioned it somewhere here, but whatever...
5 yrs ago, Resident Evil 2 PC version - waned to check my savegames (in case if my friend has overwritten them), ended up completing ALL scenarios in 8 hrs overnight. No A ranks though :(

More:

Some other one-sitting-completions - Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night (PS1), Turrican 3 (Amiga), Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion (GBA) - both during ONE night!
Longest playthroughs ever - Phantasy Star Portable (2 yrs, still going strong), Grandia 2 (2 yrs, dropped it off because of mandatory and boring grinding)
Shmup 1CCs - Psychic Storm (PCE CD), Lords Of Thunder (Sega CD)
Run-n-gun 1CCs - Gunstar Heroes (Genesis), Contra: Hard Corps (Genesis)
Playing several sequels in a row (it's really an achievement for me, because I rarely do so) - Ys I & II (PSP), Marathon 1-3 (PC), God Of War: Chains Of Olympus & God Of War 1 (PSP and PS3 respectively)
KILLING 3 GUYS IN A ROW WITH THE BLASTER IN QUAKE 2 - I still have no damn clue how I was able to do this

And of course...

Daring to play Daikatana and finding it WAAAAY better than its reputation goes :P
In an alternate universal, Soldier Blade II has already been crafted by Hudson Soft and Compile with proper tate this time around (c) PC Engine Fan X!
Sega tried and failed. Nintendo didn't even try. (c) Specineff

Let's see.

A still unbeaten score in Garegga (well, except for KET's...)

The 300M+ scores on Border Down's 6-c and 6-d routes

At least 300 1CC arcade clears in virtually any genre (except Mahjong)

Outside shmups, worthwhile efforts:

1-CC Final Fight (and all the other Capcom brawlers, if I remember correctly), 1-CC Magic Sword, 1-CC Time Soldiers, Bench press 143 kgs, some other stuff I can't recall.

100% completion of a thps3 character in a 2 or 3 hour run while livestreaming.

-Emerging victorious in a Street Fighter: 3rd Strike tournament in Austin Texas. (There were some pretty damn tough and worthy opponents, but I whooped 'em all the same.) I played as Ryu, and even won an Oni (The Bungie game with strong anime appeal) comic book series for getting first place.

-Defeating Sephiroth in FF7, getting %100 completion with all the secrets and weapons uncovered.

-Beating Azel: Panzer Dragoon Saga after uncovering every nook and cranny of the game.

-1CCing Panzer Dragoon Orta with a monster score and Gladiator endgame rank.

-Beating Shenmue one and two for the first time. (I consider that an important accomplishment, even though it wasn't insanely difficult to do.)

-Beating Grim Fandango and Escape From Monkey Island for the very first time remain two of my most cherished gaming moments.

-1CCing Guwange.

-Defeating the humongous battleship in Steel Battalion. Getting first place (not just as a team, but as an individual player) in an epic Line of Contact team vs. team round against two superb Japanese players (who were doing some crazy maneuvering shit with their mechs the likes of which I'd never seen before, making our possible victory seem hopeless, but we pulled through).

-And I guess unlocking every secret beam katana, card, and boss in No More Heroes, getting an 100% clear after finally beating Henry Touchdown's ass.

-1CCing Arcana Heart

-Getting 1st place on a Dragon Blaze cabinet in a Portland Oregon arcade. (That was the first time I had ever played a shmup on a cab.)

I'm sure I'm forgetting something.

I can only think of 2

Mushihimesama Futari Black Label Palm 1cc

Managed to get at least 1 of every materia mastered, and at least one of each equipment, along with killing both bonus bosses in Final Fantasy 7 in under 60 hours... which gave me 2 of each master materia

I've played that game way too many times

I own several world records in Advance Wars 1, 2, and DoR.

I also own the speedrunning record for Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes DS.

I can beat insane difficulty maps on insane difficulty setting in Heroes of Might and Magic 2.

I've cleared Knights in the Nightmare (hey, just figuring out the game is an accomplishment in and of itself, lol).
