drauch wrote:^Yeah, same here. I rarely buy boxed "older" games unless I just find a really good deal. Older PC games I'm starting to get boxed when I can, though, both for aesthetics and the fact that it's kinda hard to shelve 6 floppies or games with no spines (i'm looking at you N64, 32x, Famicom, etc)

On another note, Gun Nac is so awesome...
Ugh, N64 games annoy me so much for this reason. What's worse is when you find a great deal on a cart-only game only to discover the dude that had it before wrote the title in gigantic permanent marker on top of the cartridge

Wow, that's awesome. It looks clean as hell, as if it was actually blue plastic.

Nice paint job, but whoever designed that thing was probably insane.

Thanks for the compliment :D

I quoted my post from pcefx.com about the whole story why I did this paint job & what mods I did on the console.

OK - long story :P.
Finally I got lucky and won a loose Super Grafx on Ebay for 85 Euro :D.
Two days after I paid the thing the seller contacted me he hadn't noticed a flaw before he listed the system :|.
The flaw was near the S-EXP connector on the edge there was a 5mm hole in the case broken out :? :?.
After a few hours of thinking about this "issue" we (me & seller) came to the conclusion 75 Euro for the system and I would take it and try to repair it \:D/.

Sorry - I hadn't take a picture before the fix - but I think you can imagine a hole in a Super Grafx 8).
Here it is after the fix:
Image

And the spot in particular:
Image

I made the fix with "Feinspachtel" (sorry I don't know the English term) for cars. This stuff is perfect for things like that - it gets hard as **** but you can grind it easily. But when you grind away the surplus stuff you will make scratches in the case of course.
And here is the part where I need your guys opinion(s) :) - I'm thinking about respraying the Super Grafx (I personally suck at painting stuff, so I'm thinking about get it made at a car paint shop).
Would you guys respray it in it's original colour or would you go for something completely different ??? (Because the SG looks a bit like a car engine I'm thinking about respraying in chrome metallic :D).

As I had the system disambled already I decided to make a RGB mod also:

For dingsbums,

That's one cool modded & repainted Supergrafx console. An automotive metallic paint finish coudl've been selected as well. Only if NEC and/or TTI released multi-colored variants of the Turbografx-16/Turbo Express/Turbo Duo...makes me wonder which color would sell the best (besides the usual all-black color scheme).

Protip: Don't use standard rubberbands to neatly store away your PCE/TG-16/Duo controller cords as given time and enough oxidation, contact with the rubberband resting on the PCE's outer controller plastic casing will eat through it and cause cosmetic damage if given enough time. Learned the hard way & have to resort to using wired tie-twists so that issue/condition doesn't happen again. The combination of plastics that NEC decided to use for manufacturing their gaming controller shell components was an unwise decision -- this was unforeseenable, even ten to twenty years down the road from a manufacturing quality-control standpoint.

I finally received the 2 iCades I ordered (one for work and one for at home... the ultimate "dock"). Also the jailbreak for the iPad2 finally came out. To top it off, iMAME4ALL finally got support for the iCade. It was done by someone else as the original owner of the mame port wasn't working on it. Everything came together within days of each other. The results....

Awesome little desk sized gadget for work and messing around with at the desk at home:

There's a fan-translated rom of the Super Famicom version. Unfortunately the Super Famicom version is considered the worst, since there are a lot of omissions. On the other hand, it's also the easiest, which I quite like, because old CRPGs can often get a bit tedious.

Hey, did yours come with the mini CD? Mine didn't. Datam Polystar seemed to be keen on including these mini CDs, since they included them for each of the Makeruna Makendo games.

Here's my second Super Famicom game haul video. Most of them were purchased on my last trip to Japan:

Bresser Condor 10x42 (10x zoom, 42mm lense). Made out of rubber, nitrogen filled eye caps keep the lenses clear. Eye adjustment, lense adjustments and focus.

So far I've been spying on rabbits eating vegetation under trees (not my primary concern but haven't had time to get out and about yet). I bought them online so had no idea of real size or weight. I think they are a bit smaller than I envisaged and a bit heavier too. They feel robust and easy to handle, portability was a concern when purchasing. Overall I am happy.

None of the games is (was) sealed or resealed. I just put my games with CD cases (and spine cards :) ) in protective sleeves.
Taromaru was 190 Euro (condition is like new / with memory card sticker, reg, spine).
