SF Bay Area Shmupmeet: Sunday June 26th - San Mateo
Re: SF Bay Area Shmupmeet: Sunday June 26th - San Mateo
Here is a short video walk thru of Game Center Arcade. More people on fighters than shmups, but it was early in the day.
More pictures posted by Myung on his facebook page show how large the crowd got.

Major props to everyone who came out! I was totally impressed by how many fans made it out and how many good runs I saw. It was the first time I ever saw in person an X68000, so that made my day. Reason being, the first first shmup I was obsessed with as a kid was Granada (the Genesis port). It was only years later that I learned there was a superior version of it for some unknown Japanese computer system.
Only a year or so ago was I able to find it and play it via some gigantic TOSEC torrent. To finally see the hardware was a million times better, though.
Dave: Awesome video
Definitely getting linked on the FB page
BER: There are two ways to actually add that 4th button. The first is the "nice" way, which involves me wrestling out a pin from a spare Astro City control wiring harness I have and clipping that into the current harness (that only has wiring for 3 buttons). The second is the less nice way; run a wire directly from the button and splice it into the wire that's already going into the harness at the bottom.
Also, in my FB pictures, there are two pictures: one of a guy playing the TurboGrafx 16, and one guy on the X68k. What are their real/forum names? I'd like to give them massive props for helping me revive the 3rd Strike kit I have
At any rate, thank you all again for coming, and as for your next meet, I'd love to host again. Next time we can refine it, maybe open up the back lounge area/room for people to sit back, maybe watch some appreciate dvds, the like.

That's "mdl" (Mark) playing (and owner of) the X68K, and "Papa November" (Duncan?) playing (and owner of) the TG16.totoroslayer wrote: Also, in my FB pictures, there are two pictures: one of a guy playing the TurboGrafx 16, and one guy on the X68k. Huh? It is? I haven't gotten it repaired yet.... ;P We do, however, have Virtual On Force for Xbox if people want to try that out.

I saw it behind the counter hidden in a room. I just guessed that, "oh hey, Virtual On's gonna be in this place soon" not knowing that it was actually out of order lolAlec wrote:oh, I thought I saw it in a photo somewhere. I got all excited and stuff.totoroslayer wrote:Alec wrote:

Dave, next time you're down drop off that Sonic Wings Special so it can run on the Egret for a while
