eBay buyer won't pay up! What to do?

Post by neorichieb1971 »

2 Blu rays are the merch.

He asked me to wait till the 28th of the month. I did. (a week).

Now he wrote -
Dear aliginit,

HI there I won the bid for troy and batman begins on blu ray and said i was gonna pay today, unfortunately i had a death in my family and had to go up north so if possible could you please put the items back up for bid as i cant pay now. Im sorry for any inconvenience caused.

If he told me that in the first place I'd say its true. But my instincts tell me he's just backing out. Should I leave him neg feedback?

Do I get charged again for reissuing these on eBay?

I suppose if he gets neg feedback he has to the right to give me neg feedback. I have a 100% record

This whole situation is retarded, he is definitely pulling at my sympathy strings here.

Tell him you'll hold them until he gets back. I don't understand what having a death in the family (if it's true) has to do with his inability to pay. Just tell him you'll wait because it will cost you money to re-list them items. See what his next move is.

Travel/funeral/burial expenses, possibly.

I'd just put them back up and let the whole thing be. If he is backing out he'll back out no matter how long you say you'll hold (though he might let you hold them and hope you'll forget). I wouldn't leave negative feedback on the off chance that someone really did die.

he wont pay you jack shit, leave negative and report him as a non-paying bidder and go on with your life..

..or travel up north and beat the cash out of him, your choice.

You would be surprised how much it costs to bury someone and hold a funeral service. That is, if he's the one paying for it =P.

You can't leave negative feedback for buyers anymore anyway.

All part of the eBay / Pay Pal "fuck the seller" policy.

However, I would report t his to ebay as a non-paying bidder so you can reclaim your fees.

Also, write his address down your little black book of "people to make miserable should you ever be disgustingly rich."

Pretty much this. It's really shitty that you can't leave negative feedback for buyers anymore. Kind of....eliminates the point of the feedback system.

If they were buy-it-nows, I'd report buy as non-paying to ebay. If they were auction style and the 2nd highest bidders on both items aren't much lower than the final bids, just sell to the runners up (there should be a button for this, as it's a common process).

Kill him. Use his blood to write a warning message to his family. Then crush his family with heavy things.

I left positive feedback for all the others. Why can't I leave neg feedback?

Yeah- you can't leave negative on buyers anymore. eBay's logic was "sellers would just retaliate with negs- let's stop that".

Anyways- my suggestion is politely ask for the listing fees and final value fees if you are not okay with taking them on the chin. I am pretty sure if the buyer leaves a negative and there is no record of payment- it's one of those rare times where eBay will remove the negative. If you *have* to- you can file a strike on the guy. That kind of claim (NPB) has a few outcomes- but most of the time it's either buyer ignores, ebay credits fees, strikes the buyer *or* buyer suddenly decides to pay. The 2nd one is moderately dangerous- they can get vindictive and file a 'not as described' with Paypal, or leave a negative anyways- and there's not much you can do.

If the fees and such are not important to you- just ask the buyer to leave you a glowing positive in lieu of paying the fees and be on your way.

Good luck- just be thankful it's not something with huge fees.

Ebay isn't fun these days :(

^No, you don't need to do this.

If the buyer backs out, all you need to do is open a non-paying bidder case, and then close it after 4 days and you will automatically get your listing fees refunded to you. Help page explaining this here.

Its really that simple. And even though you can't leave negative feedback for the buyer, eBay will record the case as a strike against the buyer.

Its pretty rare a buyer will get away with a negative or "not as described" after you've opened a non-paying bidder case.

YEAH THIS! WHAT HE DONE SAID!

not even worth leaving negs. chances are he is a lying toe rag and he just bought too much shit he cant afford. its not worth getting in to arguments over ive got about 3 or 4 unpaid disputes on the go and im getting the listing fees back though the system. its no biggie really.
