Can someone buy the Cars 2 Steelbook from Bestbuy for $7.99

Post by neorichieb1971 »

This is the USA Best Buy.

The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail. Looking for any dents or scratches. S/he will keep in the steelbook in their hands as much as possible so Best buy staff don't slam it around at the checkout (as they have a reputation to do so).

Once in the possession of yourselves, a great packing technique should be used to insure the item reaches me in good health.

I am hoping whoever the successful candidate is will be able to pick up many store exclusives so the successful candidates geographic location should be pretty near Target, BB and other similar stores. The odd fiddle of the customs sheet is sometimes a concern as I live in the UK. There are no strict deadlines to get me the merchandise. The perfect result is that eventually I get my gear.

Good communications are essential to a great working partnership.

Compensation depends. I try to add 10%. As this is an unusally low price item i'll throw in a few$ extra. You will be paid by Paypal gift.

Thanks for reading, Good luck my friends.

This is the case in question -

Its serious. I want to buy a case of Cars 2. Its exclusive at Best buy.

The buyer should be a good lad who wants to help people out. But have a good eye for a good steelbook. I'll pay over the odds for it. Preferably someone who makes regular trips to places like BB because then they don't have to make a special journey.

I don't do joke threads. Come on guys.. its $8, not $800. Please, pretty please with sugar on top?

I'm going to town on Saturday or Sunday. I'll look for it. I'll check with you the morning before I go to make sure you still want it and will pick it up based on your 70+ positive feedback in hopes I'll get my money back.

Thing is though, it will probably cost more to ship it then to buy the item itself.

I've gotten Richie a few Japanese DVDs (similar deal) and he's always come through -- not to mention several game deals as well.

For $8 a pop I'll take as many as I can get up to 5. But really I just want that first one. So if 3 people come back with one, I'll pay for them all.

I'll pay for the Steelbook, plus shipping (regular airmail) plus $10 (applies only to the first steelbook). Hell you can even order it online. But I only want DENT FREE. So that means you have to return it if its not perfect, thats why I want you to go to the store itself.

If the person does a good deal and I'm happy, I will possibly come back to them later for another deal. Problem is its the USA and its barely once a year that I need anything from there. The last thing I got from the USA was Transformers 2 IMAX edition from walmart.

Thanks GP, I'll be coming right back at you shortly for that Rodland. Just picked up Viper Phase 1 from Barmski though :o

edit - The Sku is SKU: 2542101

I'll vouch for neorichie too. Have been picking up Canadian steelbooks for him and he ALWAYS pays promptly and in full. Definitely no worries.

Are you a huge disney/pixar fan, or is this for resell in the future? Serious question, I am just curious.

Well. There are 2 kinds of collectors out there that are nuts. One of them is the steelbook crowd. People willing to pay £200+ for Ironman (Futureshop version) or the German uncut Rambo which was pulled shortly after release. That particular steelbook goes for £300+ on occasion.

The other nut cases are Disney collectors. So when a Disney steelbook hits, you have this frenzy thing happen. Its like the perfect storm.

I wouldn't say Cars 2 is going to set the world a light, but its significant because its Pixar. Its also limited. Unfortunately it has one thing going against it. Its G1 size, which is DVD size. If it were G2 size (blu ray size) it would of had a much bigger impact on the market.

Me personally. I'm just a steelbook collector. True Grit and Akira turned up today, Scarface is coming soon. I'm getting all the Harry Potters, Blade runner, Full Metal Jacket, Troy. I think I have 90+ now. The average resale price for a steelbook is twice what you paid when sources dry up. You very rarely get less, but it does happen. Since blu ray is the last tangible disc format to own a movie, having exclusive packaging whether its steelbook or whatever, may prove to be a significant investment. However, there is always the chance it will decrease to nothing. But something tells me my instincts are right that its always going to go up this time.

Here is my collection thus far - http://www.blu-ray.com/community/collec ... tegoryid=7

The flag represents the country issuing the steelbook/blu ray etc. Sometimes you have to scout high and low worldwide to find the treasure. The biggest steel countries are Canada, Germany, France. UK is 4th. USA is last. I think they have had 2 or 3 blu ray steels so far outside of the Bond movies. The Bond movies flopped on steelbook and so no other distributors sought after getting more steels done.

Here are some pics of my steels -

Its an enjoyable hobby to collect steelbooks. Unfortunately getting a dented one is demoralizing. Hence the importance of getting brand new ones in your hand for inspection.

Interesting! I didn't know Steelbook releases had such a market. I can appreciate that, as my main hobby a few years ago was collecting DVDs and importing and the like. Trying to stick with just video games for now, but I do miss collecting movies...

Jesus, I sold that Ironman Futureshop steelbook on ebay for 52$ in '09. Only ever steelbook I've sold from my collection, and it has to be the one that skyrocketed! I'm speechless.

Ironman was made in small numbers because blu ray was in its infancy at the time. It was region free and Futureshop made the only ironman steelbook. Its also a pretty good movie. It ranks as the no2 most expensive steelbook in the world.

Cars 2 anyone?
