Sorry to hear that Seth, I hope this means you'll at least get some quality time on the Cyberlead.

I checked out GameCenter myself on Saturday, as Dave_K. knows.

Had a decent noob run on Espgaluda (Stage 3?), and a good survival run on Ikaruga (Chapter 3 after the title). Also played Virtua Cop 3, as I haven't played that in ages; cranked out a good number of Justice Shots.

Looking forward to seeing all of you next Sunday!

Yeah, I stopped by Saturday evening and saw gs68 there! I was scoping out logistics for this coming weekend, and will post details in the top thread later this week.

Whoa, we must have just missed you guys. Alec and I were there around 4-6 on Saturday getting our cards loaded and playing some Alpha 3 and VC3. Should be a sweet meet up!

Glad I had a slow day at work so I could troll the forums. I'm gonna check out Gamecenter for sure. I'm flying out to SF for a concert on Saturday and have all day to kill so this works perfect. Too bad I cant make it on Sunday, but still neat to see a place that has games instead of cranes, guns and drivers.

Sorry for the delay, just posted the times, etc. on the first page.

Start time is 3pm, and go until 10pm or so. Entry fee is $7, which is their standard pricing for an all day wristband (consider this your donation to keeping local arcades alive!). Bring a couple extra $1's if you want to be included in some competitions (still thinking these over...its a mystery!) We'll have access to all the Namco LCD fighter cabs, for which one will be setup with Akai Katana in HD. We'll also have access to about 5 other cabs for swapping shmups in (I'm bring a box of stuff up). Antron is bringing his Jamma Genny and 360 as well.

We'll break for dinner around 8pm, and find something nearby (lots to eat around the area).

Looking forward to see you all then!

Thanks! Looks good.

One more thing: will this be a public event? I've been thinking about posting this on my Facebook.

Oh yeah, what about the full game line-up? Many of my Facebook friends aren't shmup players at all, but are fighting game players. Come for the fighters, stay for the shmups?

For fighters, i believe he has SSFIV AE, Tekken 6, MVC3, and Arcana Hearts 3 in the Namco LCD cabs (all are PS3 versions). Then for shmups we will have Akai Katana (on one of the LCD cabs), and the standard fare of Ketsui, DDP, and maybe DFK Arange on his Egret2. I'll bring one mystery shmup nobody has played yet (just got it last weekend), and probably Aqua Rush since that was a hit last time.

- Arcana Hearts 3

Shmups (will be swapping these in/out..we only have a few cabinets):

- DDP DFK Arrange (XB360)
- Deathsmiles (XB360)
- Otomedius Gorgeous (XB360)
- DDP
- Ketsui
- Muchi Muchi Pork

There are also four linked cabinets playing Gundam v.s. Gundam Next, but those are 100 points to play via a gamecenter card.

Mystery Shmup swap out, since this 1987 one isn't as kind with free play settings. No problem, I have another mystery shmup from 1997, which will be the basis for a little HS competition.

Hey guys, unfortunately I can't make it out this meeting. It's a long story but the short is my dad injured himself pretty seriously and I don't wanna leave him home alone for too long. Dave, thanks for the heads-up on this arcade, it does indeed rule.

Myung, I'll be out there soon, gotta burn the other $19 on this card. Your arcade rocks.

Hopefully see you guys at the next shmup meeting.

p.s. check out the burrito place Mikhail suggests, they're good.

Ray here.

Today's shmupmeet went pretty well. Did some good runs on Ketsui and DFKBL, and fooled around in MMP and Gley Lancer. Also had a good "sightread" run of Hyper Duel.

Photos can be found here.

Thanks for posting pics so quickly Ray! I'll have to post mine later this week.

A big thanks to Myung for hosting us at his arcade! He really went out of his way to make sure everything was working well and that all our needs were met. I'm looking forward to stopping by Game Center Arcade more often!

And a special thanks to mdl, papa november, and Antron for bringing their turbografx, X68000, xb360 and jamma genny!

Met a few new folks from the board here and neo-geo board, glad to see all the shmupmeet regulars as well. Thanks all for coming out and supporting local arcades!

And what a well run arcade it is. Very clean, very nice machines. A wall of TVs and consoles you can hook up.

Dave, is there a shmup left running on normal days? Has he indicated how many he might be willing to keep there?

Thanks for putting this together.

Indeed, nice to see everyone out again! Thanks to Dave and Myung for organizing this.

antron, there is ESPGALUDA II and Ikaruga on normal days. The D button for autoshot and controlled pea shooting (or an alternative barrier button) isn't ready yet, but it'll be Myung's weekend project.

I'll try to come out every Friday when I'm not in a hurry to sleep early. :)

Myung normally has two vertical cabs setup for shmups: Espgaluda and Ikaruga. I loaned him my Esgaluda II board and Under Defeat GDRom to swap in when he likes. I'll be back up there in 3 weeks, and switch these out for some others.

BER, you don't need the 4th button on Esgaluda II unless you are lazy about shot. :P You don't have to tap very fast, and is probably preferred method for scoring. Otherwise, its shouldn't be a big deal for Myung to wire that up on the loom.

Doesn't tapping the autoshot button produce fewer bullets than tapping the shot button? I think the autoshot button is very good for fine-tuning damage, so that you can finish off enemies with as few green spirit stones as possible. Very handy for scoring well.

Sounds like the meet was a success!

As bummed as I am to have missed it, it was for the better that I stayed home. My backyard fence caught on fire and if I didn't put it out when I did it would have taken a few trees and been really bad. As it is, we lost about 15 feet of fence. I was the only one around at the time. I've been thinking of what could have happened if I wasn't here.

If any of you guys are planning on playing at Game Center again soon, hit me up. It'll be fun to do some ESPgaluda runs with some fellow shmuppers.
