Look what happened to my Dynamite Cop game

Post by Dewclaw »

How nice. I won a Dynamite cop+marquee+instruction sticker on ebay a while back and it came in today in a few more pieces than it's sposed to be.

Image not sure what this thing did but I think it was important. Here are a couple more pics.

When I picked up the box I could hear the pcb rattling around inside its cage. A couple pins were broken and a capacitor thing was rattling around in the cage too. Granted, the pcb WAS screwed onto the bottom of the cage with pcb feet, but they all snapped in transit. He should have put some sort of packaging in the cage with it.

and who ships a 21 lb. pcb with nothing but two layers of bubblewrap? It should be in a large box with plenty of stuffing but the box was barely bigger than the pcb cage. I mailed him the photos and asked for a refund but I have a feeling that's 150 bucks down the shitter. :x

Looks like an audio amp. Not so difficult to change.

Sorry te hear it man.
I think it happens more often and people are too shy to admit they got screwed over.

People like you warn the world of possible disasters like yours. Who is the seller.

OK Time to make a sticky about bad sellers. What? again a bad idea, OK sorry

If it's a part that isn't necessary to play the game then there's still a problem because the game won't work anyway. It was bouncing around inside the metal pcb cage so there's probably other damage that isn't so obvious. I'm still not totally sure where one of the pieces I found goes to.

The seller was Videodoctors on ebay. Really, their feedback is good so I can't go that route. I think he just made a big misjudgement when it came to packaging something so delicate(and heavy). Here's the reply I got:

Item: Dynamite Cop Arcade Sega pcb Kit & marquee manual NR! ( 6195832108)
This message was sent after the listing closed.
videodoctors is the seller.
Hello, I couldn't have packed the kit any better! What could have caused it to break into 3 separate pieces? I can only offer you some options. Talk with ups if it arrived in shattered condition. I believe they have insurance covering 1 or 2 hundred. You might be able to eliminate that circuit completely. Or try rebuilding it. As for the bent pins, you don't use those anyhow. Sent in working order with excellent packing. Good luck.

He could have packed the kit better. Of course, I forgot to purchase insurance...guess that's the moral of this story.

I think they insure it for $200 automatically anyways. Talk to them, it couldn't hurt.

Good luck

Thanks for the tip, Neon. I gave em a call this mornin and got a voice activated automated service thing where it gives you choices of what to say. None of the choices had anything to do with UPS tearing my shit up so I tried saying "operator" and it worked :)
In any case, they'll only insure it up to $100 for me so I'm gonna have to take a loss. The seller was polite with me at least, and he isn't totally at fault...UPS obviously dropped the package a few times. They're coming in the morning to take the Model 2 motherboard and hopefully give me my money. I seem to have forgotten to mention the sticker and marquee when I was on the phone with them, though.... :D

might be able to solder wires to connect all the circuit board traces if it is a pretty simple 1-layer layout..
i've had this happen to me when receiving items via UPS, although not with any arcade stuff yet. (and its only been UPS so far when I've had damaged stuff, i dont really like them)
