This really makes me wish they could've made PC ports of these things. Well, Raiden 3 has a real port and it's freaking awesome.

Funny how this thread didn't get so close for comfort :P

True, true indeed. Plus I guess most are pretty old as well and Raiden 3, Homura, Shiki 3 and Gigawing Generations all had ports.

It's a pity, I wanted some comedy gold and great quotes. I wonder how long before Mushi, DeathSmiles or Espgaluda II. Comfort will gain a whole new meaning.

Shiki 3 and Raiden 3 are available in native Windows version - should be much easier to find and easier to run as well. Also the hardware requirements are lower. The official Windows versions of these two run fine on a Atom-based nettop, while the TypeX versions need "proper" hardware.

I'm very much looking forward to Spica Adventure. Wanted to play this since it first shown years back :)

I'm pretty sure there is a BB:CS loader similar to these on my laptop. Maybe it's CT. Whatever, BB sucks.

I think he is referring to the fact that the code was hacked rather than emulated. ;)

Well, yeah, emulation is about something else (even if it boils down to freeloading when it's done).

yeah emulation this is not..

this is just hacking arcade PC games to run on a PC...

comparisons with MAME are stupid. These being hacked is also just going to lead to greater security on the next generation of PC based systems (because it's the only possible solution, a Windows PC is a Windows PC) probably at the cost of reliability / repairability and added bonuses like call home things which limit how often the games can be used (Merit already do this, you have to re-license your games from them every x credits, at cost) which kills the 'home owned arcade board' idea completely.

Have fun, everybody loses with this IMHO.

As Observer has touched on, these are old games which already have console ports made for them. Whats good about this especially in Gigawing Generations case is that we can play the arcade version and ignore the failings of the console port. OFC this also applies to Caves games but since Cave are still making money from their IPs, when Demul fully emulate every fricking Cave game they possibly can it will hurt Cave financially and also hurt Shmup fans in general if Cave stop making shmups in the future. Import games get hit the hardest by piracy, just look at the Touhou / Doujin scene where probably 99% of so called fans havnt spent a penny on the real games.

Anyway enough of that shit. How are the emulations / HACKS are they good? better than the console ports?

EDIT
Have fun, everybody loses with this IMHO.
Hmm you do have a point, ild imagine this would make it tougher for you Mame guys to do your thing for future titles. Still since these are old games (dunno if shiki 3 is still for sale) so the damage to the developer is minimised imo

Like said several times above, this isn't emulation. The arcade hardware was PC based and the loader was just hacked to allow the code to run on any PC. Nothing is being emulated.

It just had to happen at some point. Like playing SMS ROMs on Game Gear, or ST-V ROMs on Saturn (I don't know if you can do either with programmable carts, but the point is, if it's possible, somebody will make it happen).
Also, I wonder who'd actually want to have a houseful of Type X boards, each for one game. Unless boards and ROMs are sold separately.

This.

Remember that thing about PS3 being impossible to hack? Etc., etc., etc.?

Ok, seeing the recent posts I think this thread is also getting too close for comfort :P Going back to Beat Hazard and Jamestown.

The game kits come as a hard drive and a USB security dongle, so you'd just need one Type X+ setup to run all of the Type X/X+ games.

Yeah I know thats why I put hacks in there as a edit, In hindsight I should of deleted emulation though.

the games don't support rotation, but you could check if your graphics driver offers a pivot setting which might help.

I can't seem to figure out a setting to move diagonally, anyone know how to do this?

To switch to vertical mode with windows, go into screen resolution then select portrait mode, or if you can't TATE the right way use reverse landscape.

Ok, Raiden IV seems to be leaked as well now. I would've loved an official PC port though...

So, come on, we need domotic experts here to balance the comfort.

Use mahjong panel = N
four way joystick = N

Raiden IV is really leaked.
