Re: I dont think RSG are the right publisher for Cave in the EU.
My thoughts exactly, however I can understand the lack of confidence in a company with the majority of its titles being overrated Nintendo games.DrTrouserPlank wrote:With the bleak prospects of getting shumps released in PAL territories, any publisher willing to publish the games is the right publisher for the time being. I also think RSG are the right publisher anyway because their ethos is about maintaining the game in it's original form rather than trying to Westernise it.
Wish they could pick up the rights to publish Raiden Fighters Aces. That game would probably sell reasonably well for them because it doesn't look like a rape-sim, and is a more "palatable" incarnation of a shump game that maybe even a few uninterested in the genre as a whole might pick up as a budget-thrill.
A message for Rising Star Games:
See Raiden Fighters Aces? Akai Katana Shin? Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu? Ketsui?
Notice how everyone in PAL region wants them but is getting screwed over by everyone else?
Port it and they will buy it. It's THAT simple.
Re: I dont think RSG are the right publisher for Cave in the EU.
Why isn't this thread still locked? This is getting embarassing.
Re: I dont think RSG are the right publisher for Cave in the EU.
Thanks for all the support in this thread! We very much appreciate it.
To answer these points:
The Harvest Moon series has been really successful for us - successes allow us to take risks.
I will let you in on a 'secret': the reason we don't substantively respond on some titles is not because we aren't interested or have nothing to say but because (1) we may be actively considering them, (2) negotiations may be ongoing and (3) we have to be careful about what we say. I'm sure you understand that it might be unwise for various reasons to say, "Yes we are publishing ProductName$" if an agreement hasn't been signed. I'm certain we usually do reply to every such query with something along the lines of, "I can't talk about that at the moment" and, if we definitely aren't going to publish the title, "I'm not aware of any plans to publish that title".
I don't recall hearing concerns about localisation costs in relation to shmups!
I hope the above doesn't come across as defensive - or indeed offensive. Just setting out the facts as I see them and I'm more than happy to answer questions / concerns.
Thanks again, all.

We don't prefer any platform holder(s). The majority of our titles have so far been on Nintendo platforms but that's not because we prefer Nintendo, it's just the way it's historically worked out with our partners (e.g. Marvelous Entertainment Inc.).defected78 wrote:They are just far too pro nintendo and only concentrate on games like harvest moon and even releasing games on formats like the nintendo DS!!!
Whenever asked about games they dont really respond on the cave ones and it makes me wonder that they dont want to pay for localisation costs.
Are there any other publishers or why dont even microsoft release them.

I feel aggrieved you actually had to take time out of your day to reply to this stupid thread.
You guys have done a great job, and all European shmuppers are indebted for Deathsmiles alone. Whether or not it's logistically or economically viable to do more shmup localisations in future, we still respect the fact that you tried and that you listened.
Keep up the good work RSG!

Great to see you here Torisu.
I realise you can't comment, but I'd like to add my hope of a release for any of the region locked cave shooters, be it Dodondai, DS2, Akai Katana or Ketsui. I hope DS sold well for you guys, and thanks for taking a chance on it.

Re: I dont think RSG are the right publisher for Cave in the EU.
Cave already mentioned on their Twitter page that the 360 publishing rights for DOJ and Ketsui are owned by 5pb, so any publishers would need to contact 5pb about it, not Cave.
Would be great to see a DOJ/Ketsui double pack, maybe ironing out the final few niggles that trouble the JPN DOJ release (even after the patch).

Yeah, its a little embarassing isn't it? Just know that the majority of us disagree with the OP.Zeron wrote:Awesome that Torisu replied shame on this shit thread

Hell, I'm not even in Eurpoe and I like RSG. Come take over Aksys's shmup porting in the US, since it doesn't seem like they are gonna do much with it.
Re: I dont think RSG are the right publisher for Cave in the EU.
I actually got DS in the mail today. Didn't want to fork out money for it until I knew the forum had signed off on it. So it has, aside from some occasionally misinformed baaaawwing from some people.
The fact that I'm even able to play the game in Sweden without buying the PCB is amazing in itself, as is the job RSG did with it.

Great service Rising Star Games. Do keep it up!
I'm sure we're all looking forward to that announcement of new titles that's supposed to be happening soon too (if it hasnt happened already and I'm just ignorant).

I will be happy with any Cave game - except for Deathsmiles Platinum Collection.

Re: RSG for Cave in the EU.
Whilst I'd love them to announce DDP Daifukkastu + BL, I think they'll probably announce Deathsmiles 2 because having already released the first one it seems to make more sense than going with a different IP.Midey wrote:I will be happy with any Cave game - except for Deathsmiles Platinum Collection.

Re: RSG for Cave in the EU.
I just wanna chance to pick up any of the region locked games especially DFK BL.Midey wrote:I will be happy with any Cave game - except for Deathsmiles Platinum Collection.
Hopefully we will get some indication in the near future of which shmups are been picked up for PAL. Given my limited funds I cant afford a J360 and every shmup, but I am thinking about buying DFK BL and DFK 1.5 new with the aim of buying and 2nd hand 360 and getting that JTAGed when ive got the funds. Hopefully DFK wont completly sell out for another few months to come
(im going off on a bit of a waffle here)
I know that since DLC will be out of the question and that I might as well just use a dodgy copy of the game if im playing it on a JTAGed system, but I like to have the real version dammit! As someone who has in the past pirated every doujin game and console rom I could find just because I could even though Ild probably never get around to playing it. Ive since come to realise that playing a game with the real version enhances my enjoyment of the game. Maybe its because ive got thousands of games that I could play so that picking a game just because its cheap isnt such a big factor in which titles I choose to sink a decent number of hours into playing. Nowadays its more about the quality of the game itself and if its worthy of me spending time on it. Ofc im preaching to the choir here since how folk here would be ok spending a shitload of cash to buy a PCB and the only thing stopping everyone doing it is been poor
Re: RSG for Cave in the EU.
Errm, no it isn't. I view the 360 versions as being far superior to any of the PCB releases. Preferably a GoD version so there's no superfluous packaging to contend with.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Ofc im preaching to the choir here since how folk here would be ok spending a shitload of cash to buy a PCB and the only thing stopping everyone doing it is been poor

Re: RSG for Cave in the EU.
I would hope AKS isn't Games on Demand. How would I know what modes I was playing or if I picked Novice or not, etc.
And the fact that physical release is always better than digital.

Re: RSG for Cave in the EU.
My bet is that the upcoming releases are DFK+BL and/or AKS. The rest is either region-free, or isn't (potentially) popular enough as I see it.
